This is my part in a trade between me and AvalonCat from ToyHouse!
Finn trekked down the dirt path while on a patrol around his territory. He had left his village shortly after a transaction with some merchants looking to buy and sell supplies. After finishing that up, the green dragon left for a routine patrol around his territory.
Finn sometimes carried weapons with him during his patrols, such as battle axes, swords, and spears. Sometimes, he didn't carry these with him as he is more into hand-to-hand combat, insisting on using his fists instead to do the talking. But his weapon choices often depended on how he felt.
This time, Finn carried a battle axe in his right hand while making his rounds through the trail. While making his way along the dirt trail, he casts his eyes around, viewing the scenery around him. He is relaxed and focused, but also alert at the same time.
While strolling down the trail, a soft rustling noise captures his attention and he whirls around, ready to take on whatever may come out. At first, Finn gripped his weapon with both hands, readying himself to swing when he heard the sound of beating wings coming from above. Trailing his golden eyes upwards, Finn catches Evalon gliding in the air above him.
"Evalon! Fancy seeing you back so soon! Got bored with aerial patrol?" Finn called out to her with a smile, critiquing her return.
Evalon hears Finn calling out to her and she swoops down to meet him, landing on the ground while folding her wings back. She too smiled, but she seemed a bit unsettled. After a bit of keeping quiet, the dragoness reveals, "Honestly, yes. And there was nothing of interest out there. There were no enemies so far, so that's a good thing."
Finn reaches out to place his hand on her shoulder, consoling and reminding her, "Evalon, you're not always gonna have time to sightsee and daydream when you're out patrolling." He emphasizes his point by retracting his arm and pointing to his eyes and ears, "You gotta keep your eyes and ears open at all times."
In return, Evalon scoffs in reply, "Does patrolling always have to be all serious business? Can't a warrior at least have a little fun?"
Finn waves her off regarding her question when he appears thoughtful, lightly scratching her chin. Nodding, he begins pointing to her at least three times. "Let me… let me provide you with an example. It's rather simple and similar to your question."
Appearing keenly interested in what her mentor has to say, the dragoness accepts his decision, but is left wondering just what he is going to bring out to her. "Okay?"
Finn began explaining to Evalon the seriousness of patrolling with a simple scenario. "You're out on your rounds in a routine patrol, keeping your eyes and ears peeled for any sign of danger. But something glittery catches your eye and you veer off the trail to inspect it. It can be your favorite item which leads to distraction and downfall. Just one single distraction will make you lose focus."
Evalon was paying full attention to Finn's presentation but she still appears unconvinced. Arching an eyebrow in question, she assumes, "And? Is that all you had to say to me about that?"
Finn only gave the dragoness a funny look. Having been unable to convince her to remain serious, he was about to try something else when Evalon beat him to it. "And another thing, Finn. Weren't we going to work more on hand-to-hand combat?"
At first, Finn paled in realization that he agreed to help Evalon improve her combat ability, having forgotten about the whole thing. He retains his colors while rubbing his neck, giving the dragoness an apologetic expression. "Yeah, you're right. I had completely forgotten about that. I'm sorry…"
The dragoness gives the green male a dismissive wave in response while she begins to walk away. "Eh, forget about it; it happens to everyone. After all, we're supposed to be heading to that clearing, right?"
Finn perked up, directing his own golden eyes toward her and began to jog to catch up to her. "Oh yeah, yeah! We are. It's a wide open field with few trees in the area. It's a good spot for combat."
Evalon grinned while still walking, speaking up, "That it is! Perfect for fighting abilities and training! That's what we're gonna do, right?" The black dragoness turns her head to stare directly at Finn while asking her question.
Finn reminds her, "This is only one clearing out of all the other locations for fighting in our territory. I was gonna set you up with two more of the village warriors to further assist you in your combat."
The suggestion sounded pleasing to Evalon, who nodded her head in agreement to the offer. She smirked, "Sounds good with me; once we reach this clearing first, don't be surprised if I kick your tail!"
"Hey, when you're a barbarian and a mercenary, you tend to get a little rough around the edges. That's experience talking for ya; you gotta do what ya gotta do, y'know?" Finn challenged back in return. Evalon only rolled her eyes in response to Finn's argument over experience. She makes her comeback of her own, which also draws Finn's attention. "Experience may be the best teacher, but it won't do you any good to rely on that alone. That's how many older ones lose their fights against younger rivals."
The pair reach the designated clearing with Finn's attention still on Evalon as she offers up one final piece of her mind. "Also, experience may not always be your best teacher, and neither is cheating either. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box for one thing."
After reaching the clearing and Evalon offering up her advice to Finn, the two take up battle stances in preparation for their fight session.
Once the two dragons take up fighting stances, Evalon gives one last piece of advice to Finn, "I hope you know what you're doing with this so-called 'experience talk', Finn! Experience isn't always a good crutch to rely on!"
While observing the dragoness lightly bouncing on her feet and shifting her weight from side to side, Finn smirked at her, challenging in return, "I'll show you how capable of a fighter I am! You'll see for sure!"

Evalon and Finn stare each other down in an intense match when Evalon begins to place her left foot forward, intending to make the first move. Immediately, Finn gets ready to defend himself, but the black dragoness is only delaying the inevitable.
Finn remains on the defensive and Evalon charges directly at him, going on to aim a heavy swing to the left side of Finn's face. Finn anticipates this and weaves to his right, but he also grabs Evalon's attacking arm to follow-up. This causes Evalon to squeak in surprise and horror, unaware of what's coming next.
Using his rival's attack as leverage, Finn directs the dragoness' arm to sail harmlessly past him and he lowers himself down to get under her. He manages to flip Evalon onto her back hard through a snap suplex. This leaves Evalon winded, having the breath knocked out of her.
Turning to stare down at her, Finn has a confident grin on his face while lightly swaying his tail. He teases, "Is that all you got?"
At that moment, Evalon's strength returns to her; whether it was rage or adrenaline, neither of them could figure it out. Standing back up and turning to face her green rival, Evalon punches him in the stomach, hard.
Recoiling from the sudden blow, Finn clutches his stomach while slightly dazed. And then a black foot comes into with the right side of his face, making him stagger to the side. Evalon wasn't done yet.
Reeling from the attacks given, Finn tries to recover; he has no time to get back on his game as Evalon rolls forward to meet him again, coming out with another hard fist connecting with his stomach, followed by a swift leg sweep, resulting in him toppling over. Evalon then sends a sweeping kick to his stomach to add to the damage before spreading out her wings and lunging at him, grabbing him and flying upwards before shooting down to slam him directly into the ground.
Once the smoke and dust settles, Evalon is still standing, but Finn is completely bruised and battered from the harsh body slam. The black dragoness waits for Finn to get up, where he slowly picks himself up off the ground.
Evalon merely chuckles at Finn upon watching him rise from the ground. His own taunt comes back on him through her in a more aggressive way, "Ready to give up now? Or are you still able to fight me?"
Finn only grunted in response to Evalon's taunt, assuming a battle stance once more. This time, he rushes at the dragoness so as not to get played like last time. Unfortunately for him, the dragoness was ready.
Upon meeting the dragoness, Finn winds up to send a left punch going straight for Evalon's face. Evalon sidesteps the incoming attack and grabs Finn's arm to counterattack.
Using Finn's attack to her advantage, Evalon pulls Finn closer to her, not only to deflect his attack away, but to step in with a few more licks of her own. While deflecting the fist and causing him to whiff, Evalon drives her right knee into his left side, following up with a kick to the stomach afterwards.
Having his own power being turned against him not only knocks the wind out of him but also leaves him dazed and open to more blows. Evalon uses Finn's current state to her advantage and delivers a left uppercut to Finn's stomach to make him reel forward before grabbing him and lifting him over her shoulders. She intentionally falls backward, adding a counterclockwise twist to her body to make sure she lands directly on top of him…!
"Hrgh…!" Finn grunted from being suplexed by the black dragoness, having the wind knocked completely out of him. Stars begin floating around his head once he begins to slowly recover, though his stomach is the main part of his body bearing the brunt of the fight. While Evalon springs off of him, Finn once again starts to slowly pick himself up off the ground, wiping his face. His abs had purple bruises and scratch marks throughout while the rest of his body had some marks throughout.
Evalon had little damage dealt to her; she had most of her energy and most of her fight remaining. Upon assessing Finn's current condition, she smirked at him and laughed, "You're not winning this time! Your whole 'experience talk' is a load of trash! Next we fight, make sure you actually know how!"
Finn growled in response to her trash talk, becoming enraged. He wipes his face again and whispers, "I'm not out just yet! Just watch me!"
Right as he says this, Evalon rushes to strike him again. Only this time, Finn was ready. Though battered and bruised all over, he still had some fighting spirit left in him. This time, Finn waits for Evalon to reach him and he performs a leg sweep of his own to trip her, followed by grabbing her and somersaulting backwards to toss her over his shoulder and throw her overboard, causing her to land in a heap.
After the harsh landing, Evalon picks herself up off the ground while Finn does the same. However, the dragoness charges at Finn right as he turns around and lunges at him. The green dragon attempts to sidestep only to go down into a roll. But once both dragons separate, Evalon drives her left knee into Finn's gut again and receives an uppercut to the chin in return. This came as an unexpected surprise from Finn.
Nursing her chin, the dragoness growled in return, ready to end the fight, though Finn is already in a defensive stance. This time, Evalon charges and flips forward to meet her rival, aiming to deal the finishing blow. Finn watches this and attempts to grab her once more until he feels another stinging impact to his abs; the black dragoness disengaged her roll to deal a downward right to Finn's gut!
After pulling away and leaving him dazed once again, Evalon then deals a left uppercut to Finn's stomach once more, pushing her fist in to add nose punishment. This leaves Finn groaning and coughing a bit upon taking the blow. Then Evalon drives her knee into the same area and grabs him again, twisting her body to her left and intentionally timbering over to suplex him, landing directly on top of him.
A feral roar comes from Finn once both dragons bounce off the ground, Evalon bouncing off of Finn in return…
The scene then switches to Evalon giggling at the downed Finn, who's struggling a bit to get up. She bats her eyes at him and laughs, "Guess someone has a lot of fighting to work on since their whole 'experience' failed them!"
