As Zero’s body begins to heal, however, the attacks speed up. “EMALF FO RALLIP EHT MORF IMNOTLUM TA ERIF!” He chants, causing a fireball to fly in my direction from the fire surrounding us.
I dodge the fireball, but he leaps and me and pins me to the floor, slashing relentlessly at me. Some hit, some don’t, but I’m nevertheless helpless.
Suddenly, the fire at the entrance is dispelled, revealing Father... and Anubis VI? “Where’s Phoenix?” The latter says. The two walk into the area surrounded by the fire, which closes behind them. Zero, still possessed, gets up, one leg around me, with a claw at my neck.
“Hmm. Appears I have another traitor among my ranks. If only I could possess two creatures simultaneously.” Phoenix says through Zero. “Your father would be so disappointed.”
“Silence, Demon!” Anubis says. “You tainted my family line. You’ve committed so many manipulations, so many deaths, so much suffering, for what?” He continues. “Careful. Wouldn’t want to add to the number of deaths, would you now?” Is Phoenix’s response, holding the claw closer to me.
“Not if I can help it!” Father says, running into Zero hard enough to knock him down, forcing him to let me free in the process. I run behind Father and watch as Phoenix bursts from Zero, relinquishing control over him. “How dare you... Omni...” Phoenix says, tired. She falls to the floor, her wings spread out.
“I won’t let this happen again! I won’t let you kill me again, mortal...” She pants.
