Now that I think about it, it's probably related to the word نصر nasr, meaning victory (or I guess triumph?), which I from my past trips to Cairo (Nasr City, a suburb of Cairo). It's also a common name...
Anyway, yet another obscure verb to add to my list.
I noticed doing a back and forth translation of the original sentence would change this verb (ntasar), the result of translating 'to conquest' from English, into the less specific term 'to win' so I assume it's a verb that doesn't have a 1-1 unambiguous meaning in English
Por ejemplo, últimamente me molesta que no hay una manera directa de decir "botella de agua". Hablan de un "paquete" de agua o un "vidrio" de agua (aunque sea de plástico).
O hay sustantivos que son muy parecidos a verbos. Un huevo se llama بيض beidh. Pero cuando una gallina pone un huevo, dicen que تبيض tbeidh, como que "hueva" un huevo???
Son cosas que me quitan el sueño.
