Kind of forgot I could post writing here (or that I do writing in general honestly, though the writing for the vn is still moving on slowly in the background), but I've been a bit of a Starsector kick lately (really fun game, go check it out) and wrote this at some point. Details a meeting engagement between a commerce-raiding Imperial destroyer squadron and a Shibeviet patrol sent to investigate the cause of some missed cargo shipments.
Not the biggest fan of having the Imperial fleet use NATO brevity words, but there are obviously not any historical ones to use (and in fact there wasn't really a unified brevity words system for the USSR either). My internal justification is that they're loose translations of what's actually being said, but that's kind of a cop-out. I also haven't really written an action scene in a couple years, so this isn't really my best work. Still, hope someone enjoys it.
On the lore: This does bring up a few tidbits that haven't been revealed previously, namely that yes, Venus is in control of the Shibeviets. I though this was a really fun thing to have since the Soviets were historically the only ones to ever send anything there (the Venera missions are pretty neat to read about). It also highlights Imperial technological superiority in the midwar period in of sensors and EW systems.
Involved are a Shibeviet Shiblov-class light cruiser, Imperial Flight I and Flight II Radostnyy-class destroyers, and a Shibeviet Storozhevoy-class (no art for that one yet).
Obligatory disclaimer: Fuck Putin & co., the Russian civil war and weird combloc tech is just one of my weird special interests.
