Here we see Eli enjoying a cup of fresh coffee while scrolling throug his phone. The young Roo really likes to sip some drink while watching videos and learning turkish. Why would he learn turkish? Glad you asked!
It was 1877-78. Russia and Turkey are at war. On the side of the russians are the cossacks, one of whom was Isai. While traversing the land of the Ottoman Empire, he found a young turkish woman and decided to take with him. This woman, after converting from "magomedstvo", as Islam was called by russians back then, changing her name and getting a surname Darya Zaloga, birthed Isai a child. This child would have a family of it's own and so on, untill Eli was born. That's right Eli is a turk!.. on three percent... that never even was in Turkey... BUT STILL A TURK!!! CEDDIN DEDEN!!! NESLIN BABAN!!!... sorry, i got carried away
While Darya Zaloga's ethnicity isn't confirmed, this story got Eli interested in learning about Turkey. Hoping to visit his ancestral homeland one day, he decided to learn the language of the turks at least a bit.
# the story is based on real events, as in on me. I am (maybe) a 3% turk. And if so, I am proud to be one! Hopefully, one day I will have a chance to visit Anatolia.
