Like- the alien's equivalent of a "mouse trap"
Especially with how massive the Arc get.
They are just "roombas" Getting rid of the pesky humans.
Earth was weakened from the climate degeneration, humanity destabilized.
A perfect target for some massive aliens to swoop in and start probing.
Scouting. Setting up for their arrival.
