no. 24: Gregory - Gregory Horror Show
Gregory Horror Show is something I have an odd history with. When I was much younger, I stumbled upon it well before I even knew it was a thing by way of a board game I bought...and for some reason never played. Regardless, because of this board game I gained an obsession with the characters and the overall concept of Gregory Horror; so imagine my delight when I learned there was an entire series of it over in the mystic land of Japan that the store I got the board game from just happened to have a DVD of?
Now imagine my subsequent let down when I ended up not liking the series...in recent times I've come around to it, but I think as a child I was just expecting something more then a series of mostly unconnected short clips but despite this my love of the series managed to remain. Later I would learn about the PlayStation 2 game which I always wanted, but sadly I was never able to obtain and from there with nothing else going on for the series it slowly faded into the recesses of my mind, as these unfortunately things do. Hence why it took me so long to add Gregory into a countdown.
All this said, I still Gregory Horror Show fondly. I suppose it marks a transitional time in my life. A time where my interest in horror was going past vaguely spooky things and into something more visceral and I'm not sure if I would've had that were it not for Gregory Horror. The series blended both cute and innocent scares with far darker horror themes which is the very essence of Halloween. While it's a shame that there was never much more done with the series, I'll always appreciate it for what it is if only as a brief, fond memory.

Your image brought back all the memories I have of Gregory Horror Show. I watched most of the first season of shorts a few years ago, and this picture immediately brought back memories of odder things like Judgement Boy and downright creepy things (like the episode with the inn’s chef where you find a body part in the soup and then drink it, only to find that it’s been drugged and you out). I gotta finish it something this October.

OP
There's so many great characters within Gregory House that only focusing on Gregory is almost a disservice. Hell, there's SO many characters in the series I could easily do an entire countdown based around Gregory Horror Show!
