Saw one here in the UK last week, grey rather than red. No photo as I was driving at the time.

The technology of most american cars is rather "rustic", so no exception here.

I had the same style (1979) but there are many drawbacks to it. First is the cost of painting. since the body is all fiberglass, it has to be hand sanded before painting. These days, that would probably run about $7,000 U.S. dollars. Second, there is very little to protect you in an accident. Still, it's the most fun car to drive. Since the seats are literally on the floor, you sit with your legs straight out. Makes you feel like a kid driving a go-kart!
