most people have been good to me, some people have been very good to me, better than i deserve. unfortunately i fixate on the other ones. living in a different world mentally and i should probably leave them to it

commission form that is living in a different world mentally from most of the population but its sentience could be a concern

Well, at least with art fight you don't have to expect the person to draw back.
But not responding to art trades is a jerk move.

I have seen some of this sort act as if they intend to draw back, like by checking the "i do REVENGE" box on the meme, but you can plainly see on their page that they receive substantially more than they give (and i can personally attest that they sure didn't reciprocate to ME) and it comes across like a scheme to get yet more drawings of their characters with no commitment even though they can plainly afford to buy commissions.

and maybe I have mis-assessed the goings on but it SEEMS this way to me given my earlier experience of being blown off by them or similar people outside of artfight season.

Well, from my personal experience, saying you revenge is not a guarantee that the other person will revenge. It's just a might.

yes it is a trick. It is like stores charging money for those stupid "surprise" boxes that was big with kids a few years ago. legalized gambling. "give me something and you MIGHT get something" is a scam. Not necessarily aimed at children thankfully but you're never too old to be taken advantage of.

I see that too! I always make it a point to not draw for someone on artfight if they have more art drawn for them than they draw for other people. Like y'all have enough art already >:P

This reminds me of a lesson I learned a very long time ago. The speaker Kelly Swanson has a really good story about this. This particular speech is aimed at a business. But the underlying message is still the same. It's basically about dealing with difficult people: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46HjKrqrl4s

I fear I may be the crazy person endlessly applying past trauma to the present in this situation! But making organized complaints such as this can sometimes help me defeat the negative habit temporarily.

i suppose i am fortunate that i have never been burned by REAL scammers, though they certainly try incessantly.

I got that impression! This isn't about the sketch giveaways; I ask for promotion as payment for entry so nobody owes me anything for that, even if in the past I would complain about it, that was all trouble that i brought on myself. as is this, perhaps, but not in the same way.

promoting me beyond the initial entry-criteria-meeting post is not at all necessary but I thank you if you do!

Never getting my half of art trades and only getting terrible commissioners actually played a pretty big part in my perma art block. It's also the main reason I'm always really scared of being a "bad" commissioner myself. Depression and life circumstances was the other half of the art block thing lmao. But anyways, I feel this a lot.
