Robert let out a deep sigh as he closed the door behind him, the weight of the day pressing heavily on his shoulders. His small apartment was quiet, dimly lit by the faint glow of streetlights filtering through the curtains. He lazily shrugged off his jacket, tossing it onto the nearest chair, and rubbed his face. Another long, exhausting day. All he wanted was to collapse onto his couch and maybe fall asleep watching something mindless.
But the moment he stepped into his living room, his entire body froze.
Something, or more precisely someone, was sitting on his couch.
A large, foxy shape loomed in the darkness, relaxed and present. It was bigger than Robert for sure, making his couch look too small for her. Something moved around the dark figure. A cold shiver ran down his spine as his pulse spiked. His breath hitched as his eyes strained to make sense of what he was seeing. His mind screamed at him to act.
Without thinking, he snatched the closest hard object, a folded umbrella, and, with a quick flick of his trembling fingers, he switched on the light. It was for sure nothing he would have excepted. Sitting on his couch was the most surreal sight he had ever laid eyes on. A woman lounged there with an amused expression, golden fur covering her tall, elegantly curved furry form. Long, flowing hair the color of the sun cascaded over her shoulders, framing an impossibly warm, motherly smile. Nine enormous, fluffy tails fanned out behind her, twitching playfully, covering big parts of the couch with their fur.
“Welcome home, Robert~” she cooed, her voice like warm honey, playful and teasing. “You look like you’ve had quite the day.” His fingers tightened around the umbrella, his mind struggling to process the absurdity before him. “W-Who-? What the hell are you doing in my apartment?” His voice cracked slightly, uncertainty battling against a surge of adrenaline.
The kitsune chuckled, a rich, melodic sound that sent an involuntary shiver down his spine. “Oh my, how cold! Is that any way to greet a guest?” Her large ears twitched in amusement, and she leaned forward slightly, golden eyes twinkling. “I guess you were not expecting to find a beautiful, golden fox on your couch after work, hm?”
Robert swallowed hard. “That’s an understatement.”
She placed one charming hand against her chest. “My name is Goldie. And I already know yours, Robert.” She winked, delighting in the way he stiffened. “I know all about you. Where you work, what you eat for breakfast, how you mumble complaints about your boss under your breath. Oh, and that you’re far too stubborn about taking care of yourself.”
Robert took an uneasy step back, his heart pounding. “That… that’s incredibly creepy.”
“Creepy?” Goldie gasped, placing a hand on her cheek in feigned offense. “And here I was, thinking I was being caring. Poor, poor Robert, so tired, so tense… and yet, rather than collapse into comfort, you grab an umbrella to fend off your lovely guest.” She pouted playfully. “Do you truly see me as a threat?”
Robert hesitated, her tone disarming him. There was no malice in her gaze, only warmth. A teasing warmth, but something oddly inviting. His grip on the umbrella loosened. “…I don’t know what I see you as.” With each moment he looked at her, and with each word she spoke, he was more charmed by her appearance and presence. There was something on her that simply called for him, invited him.
Goldie giggled, her soft tails making a bit of space, and then patted the empty spot beside her. “Then why don’t you come sit down and figure it out?” He narrowed his eyes. “Why would I do that?” It was a simple question, and quite a natural one, Robert thought, when taking in the kind of situation he found himself in.
“Because you’re exhausted,” she stated simply, tilting her head. “And I can help you relax. My tails are quite soft, you know~”
Robert glanced at the golden waves of fluff surrounding her. They did look… incredibly comfortable. But was he really going to sit next to this strange, otherworldly being as if this were normal? Goldie seemed to sense his hesitation and let out a soft, knowing hum. “Oh, Robert… you poor thing. You’re too tired to even argue properly.” Her tails flicked invitingly. “Just this once, let yourself rest.” Her warm, caring smile felt more comforting suddenly, as if a warm blanket was laid over Robert. But not only her smile, all of her seemed to invite him. Her caring voice, her warm, big eyes, her alluring, beautiful form, her warm-looking fur, and even her slightly teasing way of talking to him.
Eventually, he sighed in defeat and dropped the umbrella to the floor. “Fine. Just for a minute.”
Goldie beamed, scooting slightly to make space for him. “That’s the spirit~”
As Robert hesitantly sat down, he felt something incredibly soft curl around his shoulders. Warmth enveloped him as one of Goldie’s massive tails was laid over him like a blanket. His body tensed on instinct, but slowly, the warmth seeped in, lulling away his exhaustion like a gentle tide.
He hated to it it, but… it felt good. Slowly, he relaxed, cuddling his back and shoulders into the warm fluff behind him. Since when was he so tired? The adrenaline left his body as quickly as it came, leaving only the exhaustion of the workday behind.
Goldie let out a pleased hum. “See? Not so bad, is it?”
Robert closed his eyes for a moment, exhaling slowly. “…I still have a lot of questions.”
“Oh, I’m sure you do,” she purred, nuzzling closer. “But for now, let’s just focus on one thing at a time… starting with getting you to relax.”
Before he could respond, another tail slid forward, resting gently against his chest. Goldie smiled knowingly. “Go on, wrap your arms around it. I promise, it’ll feel wonderful~”
Robert hesitated. It felt ridiculous. But the plush warmth against him was already so soothing. Eventually, with a deep breath, he gave in, slowly wrapping his arms around the tail, pulling it closer. His fingers, and even his arms partly, sank into the incredibly soft fur, and an involuntary sigh of relief escaped him. The stress from work melted away as he buried his face against the golden fluff.
Goldie chuckled, stroking his back gently. “Ara Ara~ Doesn’t that feel nice?”
Robert mumbled something incoherent, barely able to form words. The warmth, the softness—it was overwhelming in the best way. He felt like he was sinking into pure comfort, his body growing heavier with each ing moment.
Goldie watched him with a fond, motherly expression. “You’re getting so sleepy, aren’t you?” she whispered. Robert barely managed a small nod. His eyelids drooped, and he could barely keep himself upright. “Then let me give you the best sleep you’ve ever had,” she murmured.
Her tails shifted, growing fluffier, softer, and bigger. It did not take long before Robert realized how the fluff crawled over him, slowly wrapping around him fully. As the warmth continued to increase, so did his comfort. He was welcoming it. His eyes fell closed as he nuzzled himself into the golden fluff around his body. The tails stretched, enveloping him completely, wrapping around him like a golden cocoon. The couch, the room, everything disappeared beneath the waves of golden fur. He felt himself sinking, deeper and deeper, like drifting into a dream. The warmth, the safety, the sheer bliss… it was unlike anything he had ever felt.
The fluffy tails pulsed with energy as they took the man inside, claiming not only his body but also his soul. Robert barely managed a final, content sigh before sleep claimed him entirely.
Goldie stood up, stretching slightly. As her tails rose, they revealed that Robert had completely disappeared within them. A soft chuckle escaped her lips.
“There we go~ Sleep well, my dear.”
---
It was earlier afternoon, the sun was shining onto the bed, warming up the room as Robert sat up and stretched. Slowly, he rubbed the sleep out of his eyes before his brain began waking up as well. “What a weird but comfortable dream this was…” He mumbled while standing up. His body felt great. There was no aches, no back pain, or even mild discomfort. It was better than every holiday trip he had ever had. “Weird… Did I-”
There he saw it. On his night table, a letter was placed for him, addressed directly to him. Quickly he grabbed it, unfolded the paper and saw an incredibly beautiful handwriting. The letters felt warm, like they also wanted to jump out of the paper and cuddle him. Goldie. The name popped up in his head without thinking twice. Then he read the letter.
“Good morning, my dear Robert~
Did you sleep well? No. Don’t answer that, I already know you did. Just like I promised, hm? I bet you still feel all warm, relaxed, and cozy even after waking up. See? My fluff is magical in more ways than one~
I must say, you were absolutely adorable last night. The way you melted into my tails, all that stubborn tension of yours vanishing bit by bit… Oh, Robert, you really needed that, didn’t you? It was such a delight to see you finally unwind.
But I won’t keep you long. I know you have another day ahead of you, though hopefully, this one will be a little lighter now that you’re so well-rested. However… if you ever find yourself craving that warmth again, I have a little offer for you.
See that fox plushie on your couch? Yes, that one. If you ever wish to see me again, perhaps for an even longer stay, just hold it close, give it a tight cuddle, and I’ll come whisk you away to my place. There, you’ll get to experience true comfort, and trust me, last night was only a taste~
Until then, my dear Robert, take care of yourself.
Fluffily yours,
Goldie”
Robert felt warm while in his mind, he read it out in her playful, teasing voice. Still with the letter in hand, he rushed over to his living room and there it really was. A giant, human-sized... no, Goldie-Sized, plushie that strongly resembled the golden kitsune lady. A little bubbly giddiness appeared on his face, and he already took one step towards the big plushie before he got hold of himself. “This is so silly.” He mumbled to himself before quickly turning around. With much willpower, he marched into his kitchen to get some afternoon coffee.
While his back was turned towards the plushie, the head of the big golden plush figure tilted, and its eyes observed Robert's moves. It would only be a matter of time.
