"Really thought you could leave me out...little brother?"
Conceived as "Project Shadow", which was created initially for purposes of medical advancement and insights into regeneration and immortality, the Biolizard was created to cure the NIDS disease in head researcher Gerald Robotnik's granddaughter, Maria; though the official statements were to research immortality for applications in war.
However, research dramatically shifted with the inclusion of recovered 'Chaos Emeralds'. Though experimentation, it was theorized that these Emeralds produced 'Chaos Energy', and could be harnessed by non-human recipients.
Use of these enigmatic gems on the Biolizard proved to be both enlightening for the scientists, but devastating for the subject. Experimentation caused rapid growth that damaged the Biolizard's vital organs, and the testing of the dangerous Chaos Energy without proper understanding caused immense backlash to the Biolizard's life stability, requiring it to be fitted with a life system. While its abilities exceeded all expectations, its 'primitive mind' and 'weakness to walk'---caused by disinterest in fostering intelligence and damage from Chaos testing---caused the researchers to deal the Biolizard 'unruly'.
Reports from a researcher's child reveal that Gerald abandoned the Biolizard after ing with an alien known as 'Black Doom' to produce a more viable specimen...
An internal attack by a robotic entity on the ARK, which was leaked to military agency G.U.N., caused the organization to deem Gerald's work a danger to humanity. G.U.N. infiltrates the ARK, eliminating nearly everything and everyone involved in Project Shadow---aside from the final product and Gerald Robotnik himself, along with the children of the researchers---including, unfortunately, Gerald's granddaughter, Maria.
The Biolizard was discovered, and after the death of several G.U.N. soldiers, was subdued and encapsulated.
Asleep for 50 years, the Biolizard was eventually awakened by a pre-programmed event by Gerald Robotnik before his death, forcefully tasking his 'primitive Prototype' to ensure his revenge against humanity for the death of Maria.
The Biolizard was, supposedly, destroyed by the combined might of Sonic the Hedgehog, and his successor in Project Shadow---Shadow the Hedgehog---though no body has been found and evidence of its demise was recovered.
Documents and research indicate the Biolizard to have been a tragic entity in the affairs of the ARK. A creature created for the sole purpose of its creator to heal the sick---and a loved one---was, initially, of noble thought; one, of which, may have succeeded eventually. However, the introduction of Chaos Energy through the Emeralds shifted the project in a different direction---leading a creation meant to heal into something more twisted and damaged, so much so that it was put through a continued existence of destruction and regeneration for the purpose of research and progress.
A creature who did not understand the pain and suffering it went through.
A creature unable to control the raging power of Chaos it was infused with.
A creature damaged so much that it relied on machines to keep itself alive.
Despite the noble intentions and countless tests and experiments, the Biolizard---a creature made by humanity---was abandoned by its head creator for something new, something more alien. An action, of which, led to disruption within the ARK's researchers and, eventually, to the attack that spurred action by G.U.N. Blamed for the incident, the Biolizard was subdued and sealed...
...only to awaken 50 years from its nightmare into a new one, of which it unknowingly face its more stable successor, Shadow the Hedgehog. To which, later, it was seemingly destroyed by.
A creature created with good intentions, who soon only knew of pain and suffering for the progress of others. One who, unknowingly had it's purpose nullified by needless death (Maria). To be abandoned and tossed aside by its creator...only to be used once again as a final line of defense in their desire for revenge...to be seemingly destroyed by one who would not have come about without its life of suffering.
A tragic end to a tragic life for a poor, poor creature...
...however. Future research dictates the repositioning of the ARK's fall to earth during the final minutes of the Biolizard's life suggest the use of Chaos Control performed by both Sonic and Shadow the Hedgehog. While a single use of this Chaos ability is well known, it is the simultaneous nature of this application that separates it---as it is documented that performing Chaos Control in this way creates a rip in space time.
As such...while the ARK was transported to a re-orbiting position...the Biolizard, who had once been attached to it during the final confrontation...is nowhere to be seen. It is this program's hypothesis, then...that the Biolizard itself was also transported through the produced space time anomaly caused by dual-Chaos-Control. Under this premise...the Biolizard is still alive---perhaps even in a different form, perhaps before its time of suffering---and, deserving of such for what it has gone through, is living a more capable life deserving of something created for the purpose of helping others...
Observations of alien lifeforms on Earth indicate a strange, lizard-like creature during an attack on city citizens---who describe the strange being as the one who rescued them from a host of armed robots. Reports indicate they wear a Chao-themed backpack and, of all things, diaper as well, though they are naturally skeptical of their own testimony. Some also swear the creature seemed to injure itself after teleporting them to safety, but quickly seemed to recover as if it never happened. They appear to be traveling with a care-bot that they store in the backpack they always seem to be wearing, though encounters seem to brief to substantiate the claim.
Whomever this entity is, they seem to be avoiding detection from agencies such as G.U.N. and others, but appears to be helpful to the innocent for unknown reasons. One wonders if the Sonic Team will one day encounter this strange, if somewhat familiar, individual...

Considering the program is still running, and Az seemed to have an interest for some reason in this tragic guy, there may be more about him and his whole story in the future somehow maybe, depending on if people care enough I suppose heh.
