If you recall, before her temporary allegiance with the Crusaders, Celestine was given the title of Saint at the cathedral in her home city; and let’s just say that it is more than just a title. In the Grand cathedral where Celestine was taught and prayed, various were given ranks within the church that represented their time and mastery over the church’s practices and their faith. The first of these ranks was “follower”, a starting class for those just ing the church who do various menial tasks and accompany certain higher ranking within the church, assisting with whatever is asked of them. The next rank is “sister/brother”, who have been with the church for at least a year and are responsible for more important duties around the church; however, they are still tasked with rudimentary tasks. The rank that follows is “mother/father”, high ranking of the church who teach the previous ranks about their faith and are also capable of giving sermons and lectures to those they either meet or those who visit the church; in addition to organizing various events that the church hosts. The final rank is that of “Saint”, who hold the highest rank and seniority over the previous ranking , showing their mastery and clear understanding on the church and its faith. Saint’s are responsible for various workings of the church and its events and ceremonies. In addition, Saints are capable of leaving the church to either start their own church or spreading their influence and knowledge beyond the city or town they currently reside at, usually acting as teachers or mentors. Given how faithful Celestine is to the beliefs she was taught, its easy to understand how she earned the rank of Saint. What you’re seeing here is Celestine wearing her classic saint’s attire, adorned with a bit of gold and crest of her church on her chest, a symbol she proudly wears. So from that info, I guess its no too big of a mystery why she would start her own pilgrimage to spread her saintly influence. However, Celestine decided to play the dual role of both teacher and redeemer, not wanting anyone to be denied a place in paradise so long as she could help absolve them. Starting to question if “saint” is appropriate, cuz I feel “angel” is more fitting! This amazing pic was done by Pumpkinsugar over on DA, I hope you all enjoy! So, anyone ready for confession?
*TRIVIA: Celestine’s prototype name was simply going to be “Celeste”, however the name was changed due to differing thoughts.
