Fall, 1392
Decisively repulsed, the Miscabbard attack ground to a halt. Again the fighting gradually broke off into a stalemate on either side of the Sacrificial Platform. Everyone turned to the dragons for direction, everyone turned to them to make the next move.
Screeching in fury, the Lord of the Sky flew to the front of her ers.
“Cowards! Kill them!”
Rargesteyae, Jagewaoyia and Asaewath stared back at Yelkcub with defiance. All of them were battered, bloody and exhausted, but so too was the Lord of the Sky. The demon was no longer spitting fire.
“Your power over your cult is slipping!” Mera called out from his prison. Six fresh arrows protruded from the large dragon’s body, but he remained proud and bold. “They'll not accept more losses while you cower behind them!”
The demon hissed back at the prisoner, before flying atop her throne to face down the trio of dragon fighters.
“Fine! I'll just kill you all by myself!”
Rargesteyae however turned to smile at her brother and his friend.
*Together we can take down anyone.*
Asaewath returned the humor. *I like the way you think.* He turned to the silver dragon.
*Jagewaoyia?*
The silver dragon steeled herself, then grinned. *Let's finish this.*
As the Lord of the Sky roared and charged at the three smaller dragons, Asaewath called out:
*Go!*
Then bronze, green and silver wyrms spread their wings and counterattacked the demon. An vicious, intricate, bloody dance followed, observed silently by everyone on the ground. None of the participants had much fuel reserves left, so first one, then another twirled and struck with tooth, tail and claws. Asaewath was knocked away by a headbutt, only to be replaced by his sister, and when Rargesteyae staggered from a violent lashing from Yelkcub's tail, Jagewaoyia took over with a snap of her jaws. Together the four fighters spiraled up to the very center of the Throne Room where the remains of the Lord of the Earth hung high above the chamber, dragon blood raining down upon the cultists and anti-Miscabbards while Mera his efforts to free himself.
Finally Asaewath took an opportunity and lashed out, biting the Lord of the Sky on the shoulder. With a roar of pain, Yelkcub threw a paw into the green dragon’s face and violently shoved him off. Asaewath reeled back, but Jagewaoyia grabbed her friend mid-air, and carried by her forward momentum gave a powerful roundhouse kick that sent the chain shackled to her foreleg flying violently into the Lord of the Sky’s face. The violently swinging fetters landed with a sickening crack, causing the Lord of the Sky to stagger in turn. Seeing their advantage, Rargesteyae leaped up and tackled Yelkcub, sending the both of them slamming into the remains of the ogre bones. Widesytdrek’s corpse shattered upon impact and the remains of the Lord of the Earth fell crashing to the ground, carrying the two dragons with it. Cultists, prisoners and rebels alike all fled as the mass of blood and scales violently slammed against the floor.
Everyone stopped and stared in shock. For several minutes there was nothing but the roar and opacity of cascading dust and debris, like the fall of a great mountain. Jagewaoyia warily landed, prepared to renew the fight, quickly ed by Asaewath, who had unsteadily settled back on his paws. Some braver souls began assembling around the impact zone, awaiting the outcome when the dust settled. And then with a violent jerk, Meratezatgh tore himself free of the final metal gate and walked towards the location of the crash, friend and foe all parting a way before the legendary Stanton Dragon.
Slowly all the rubble landed, and eventually the dust lifted. Before them all sat Rargesteyae, breathing hoarsely, bleeding from dozens of wounds, but very much victorious. Mera’s daughter lay looming over the Lord of the Sky, fallen and broken, her dragon skull helm cracked.
Still badly weakened, Mera staggered slightly as he continued to the two interlocked combatants, announcing for the benefit of everyone within Kavi, friend or foe:
“Lord of the Sky, you have done me a great favor in killing the Lord of the Earth. I owe you a debt. You deserve relief from your madness. You deserve freedom from your suffering.”
Yelkcub painfully lifted her head, blood flowing like a stream out of her mouth, but there were not pleas or excuses from her, only defiance and anger.
“To the Underworld with your spaw-”
*You also deserve to die.* Rargesteyae spat, a second later snapping Yelkcub’s neck. The Lord of the Sky shuddered once, and fell still.
A deep silence fell over the battlefield, as everyone processed what had happened. And then a single call echoed through the chamber. No one knew from friend or foe, but it didn’t matter. The facts were there.

A lot of heroes hold themselves back at the end to show they are merciful, but that's not justice. Don't slaughter the army and banish the leader; kill the leader and send the pawns home.
(It's actually much, much, longer lol.)
