Zed doesn't keep his status very secret -- and why should he? Exceptionally powerful beings like himself have nothing to fear by divulging their nature, and with his unbridled confidence, he especially is unbothered by the idea.
So he'll show off, do a 'finger gun laser' to light a friend's cig, he'll change his body to many different fantastical shapes and sizes and he'll imbue a friend with power so he can giggle at their struggle to contain it all.
Sometimes, though, very rarely, there are important things that need to be done. Things that make him the innate promise that comes with godhood. Problems that need more than just a different body or a light show to solve.
When those problems happen, you'd better hope that you're not at the center of them...
