Marshall groaned softly, then yawned and stretched in the morning sunlight that drifted in through his bedroom window. The morning birds currently singing their little song as they do every morning.
He stood up and waddled a bit over to the bathroom, stopping to examine himself in the bathroom's full-length mirror. Staring back at him was a teenaged brown and white fox with deer antlers, wearing a red t-shirt and a soaked diaper. He blushed as he sighed sadly to himself.
His body, as if on autopilot, attempts to comfort him by suck his thumb, which Marshall was quick to noticed and stop himself before he did, before letting out another sad sigh.
Last month, he had started to wet the bed. Worried about himself and not wanting to bother his busy parents, Marshall went to the town library.
And read through several books researching the symptoms of any condition he might have, and had confirmed his own worst fear. Marshall had Miner's Syndrome, and it was manifesting.
But so far, it only seemed to be bed-wetting, but he knew it was only going to get worse for him in the following days to come.
So more concerned Marshall continued doing research on the systems of Miner's Syndrome, it first starts of off as a few bedwetting bouts here and there. The person with the condition might also notice themselves chewing or lightly sucking on their thumbs or even some objects, like a pencil's eraser or the long foldable parts of glasses.
As the condition progresses, the individual will notice more frequency in bedwettings, and even start having a few daytime accidents here and there.
Then the person will then start having urges, small at first, for physical affection, like hugs or headpats, might start taking more of an interest in toys or stuffies, maybe even start feeling tired in the middle of the day, but also feel random bursts of energy, especially when engaging in some kind of playful activity.
Continuing from there, the accidents get worse until they become full-on incontinence. Their infantile behavior becomes much more than simple urges. They're emotions become a bit more volatile at times, like the throwing of tantrums or becoming anxious when a favored toy isn't in sight.
They lose coordination when eating and drinking, requiring help as well as unspillable drinking cups or bottles. The need for a crib often becomes apparent as the condition can often cause the one with it to roll out of bed, as well as get up and go wandering if they can't sleep.
Reading all this made Marshall want to tell his parents, but he wasn't going too. Marshall did want to but couldn't, because his parents were always so busy with their jobs right now.
And he didn't want them to worry about him. Done so much for him when he was little but now since he's a teenager he can do most of it on his own.
But even though this condition was kind of serious Marshall still wouldn't talk to his parents even if they weren't so busy, so keeping that in mind he finished his research, left the library went to the shop bought himself some diapers that the shop and went home.
And throughout the month, Marshall did his best to hide his condition from his parents. Of course that was easier said than done, because through the mouth Marshall hard to hide some parts like the thumb sucking and the packages diapers which he had to buy on his own, after school and hide them in his backpack every so often.
He did have some Close coals here in there but he manages to cover them up with a bit of lying.
So that meant that it would be easier to hide than those with full incontinence. But there was still the thumb sucking, which Marshall kept a vigilant watch over, he went into the bathroom to strip off the soggy diaper and take a shower. Once finished, and relieved to be wearing his regular underwear, he dressed in himself school uniform. He looked at himself in the mirror again, and now stood a teenaged fox-deer.
Wearing a white shirt, a black, and light blue tie, and dark blue shorts, he smiled, before realizing that he was once again sucking his thumb, and quickly ripped it out and made his way downstairs.
In the kitchen, Marshall's doe mother, Natalie, or Nelly for short, was working on making breakfast while doing some work on her laptop at the same time.
She works as a landlord for homex International, a company that helps other furs find good homes to house their entire families. Most of her work is done at home while she's on the laptop. New clients would send messages on her company's website asking for a new house, and then she would help find them a good home for all of them.
As she works on her laptop with a new client right now, she also cooks some bacon and eggs for breakfast. She's excellent at multitasking because she would never get anything around the house or her work done if she didn't.
“Oh morning marsh, you sleep okay?” Nelly, asked as she noticed Marshall came down the stairs.
Marshall nervously went into the kitchen “m-morning mom” he said, taking a seat next to his mother, smiling awkwardly.
“Breakfast is ready, but you're going to have to eat fast if you want to make the bus,” she onished with a slight shake of her head. Marshall looked around the kitchen and noticed that someone was still missing from the table.
“Where's dad?” Marshall asked.
“You know your father. He's always busy tailoring his suits.” Nelly said. “Go down to his 'workshop' and get him before his breakfast gets cold.”
“Okay.” Marshall said.
Marshall got out of his chair and walked down to the basement, AKA his father's workshop. The basement was filled with tons of suits and fabrics in all different kinds of sizes. Doing some stitching on the table was Marshall's dad, Flynn pouncer.
Like Marshall mostly was, his dad was a fox (except Marshall's fur was brown with white marks while his father's was more light tan with white marks).
Since he was born, Marshall appeared to be more fox in both body and features. The only noticeable deer part he has from his mother is his two antlers on his head.
Which made a little less sense to Marshall since his mother was a doe and only bucks get antlers, Marshall believed he shouldn't have antlers himself.
Marshall chose not to question his parental logic, as he believed he may never get the answer to that.
“Okay. Just a bit more here and there… and this so will be perfect.” Flynn said as he was stitching up a suit jacket.
“Hey, dad.” Marshall said, greeting his father from behind.
“Oh. Well, if it isn't musishall.” Flynn said to his son by nickname. “What brings you here, champ?”
“Mom says it's time for breakfast.” Marshall told him.
“Oh right. Guess my mind has been on my suits… again.” Flynn said while scratching the back of his head.
After a little giggle at that, Marshall and his dad went upstairs to get some breakfast. At the table sat the pouncer family, each with a plate of bacon and eggs, Nelly manage to make some pancakes as well.
Marshall rapidly scarfed down his pancakes. Not only that, but he seemed to be getting it mostly on his face as he eats, This made Nelly a little concerned.
“Marshall, slow down.” Nelly said to Marshall. “You don't have to eat so fast.”
“Now, dear. He's a growing boy.” Flynn said while sipping his coffee. But it didn't take him long to notice that most of Marshall's food was going on his face too.
Noticing his parents looking at him, Marshall looked around his face and noticed the messy spots he's bacon an egg had left on it, Marshall's eyes widened realizing his body must have worked on autopilot again.
He then looked at his parents, then his messy face, then back at his parents, then at his messy face again. Clearly, he was embarrassed he did a childish thing in front of his parents.
So as quickly as he ate, Marshall got up from his chair and grabbed a washcloth from the counter, damped it and used it to clean his face.
When his face was good and clean, he turned back to his parents with a nervous smile and giggled. “Hah sorry mom, dad, I was in a big hurry to get to school.” Marshall nervously lied to his parents, clearly trying to cover up what had happened.
Although they were not convinced that their son was okay. His parents nodded in agreement with him, there was a long awkward silence between all three of them, but Nelly, being the most concerned about her son, breaks the silence.
“Marshall? You know if something's bothering you… your father and I are always here to talk about it.” Nelly said, holding her paws to her chest.
Hearing this made Marshall's nervous smile disappear and get replaced by a look of despair, of course, Marshall did know he can talk to his parents about his problems and issues
Marshall did also feel like telling his parents about his Miner's Syndrome throughout the month.
But the truth is, Marshall's not really ready to talk to his parents, especially since they're very busy.
Sighing, Marshall spoke sadly, a little teary-eyed “Yeah… I know mom.”
Throughout the following month, Marshall had wanted to tell his parents about it, but he just wasn't ready. He didn't want his parents to be stressed out on their jobs just to worry about him.
Noticing the look on their son's face and a little tear in his eyes, Marshall's parents see that it's clear that Nelly's comforting words had caught Marshall off guard and upset him a bit.
Although he knew his mother was only trying to comfort him, Marshall couldn't help but be a little upset and sad, feeling Nostalgia for the happy times they had when he was little.
Wanting to end the conversation, Marshall quickly wiped his tears with his sleeve, and started walking to the door. “I… I… I should probably get going… bye mom… bye dad.” He still a bit sad as he grabbed his backpack, opened the door and closed it straight behind him as he left
When Marshall left, his parents were more concerned after seeing the look on his face and the bit of tears in his eyes. “Honey, I'm really starting to worry about him.” Said Nelly.
“Yeah, so am I.” Said Flynn, putting down his mug of coffee and turning to his wife, “did you see the look on his face? I was just trying to comfort him, and he looked so sad because of it.” Nelly stated heavily breathing.
“Yeah… now that you mention it, darling… he has been acting… weird lately.” Flynn stated, picking up his mug again and taking a sip of coffee.
Looking up at his husband, Nelly starts to wonder what he meant by that, “has he? How so?” She asked with a raised eyebrow, Flynn put down his mug again and turned to his wife. “Well… have you noticed he's been sucking his thumb a bit lately?” He ittedly asked.
“Is that so?” Nelly said, scratching her chin, then started putting pieces of the puzzle together in her mind, after some quick-thinking Nelly's eyes widened upon realizing what this could possibly mean, breathing more heavily in a panic state “Honey, you don't think Marshall has-?”
Knowing what his wife was getting at, Flynn got out of his seat, went over to Nelly and grabbed her hand to comfort his worried wife. “Now, dear, let's not think that's the case… he would have told us if he did.” He said in a calming tone.
This tone of voice did calm Nelly down a bit, but she was still not convinced that that wasn't the case just yet. Nellie started to wonder if Marshall did have it, why didn't he tell them?
Suddenly, a ping sound was heard on her laptop, informing her that she had a new client to help find a new home.
As Nelly went over to her laptop to help out the new client, she thought of something about why Marshall may have never told them… if he did have it. Turning back to face her husband again, who was once again drinking his cup of coffee.
“Honey… if Marshall does have Miner's Syndrome, do you think he's not telling us because he thinks we won't them because we're so busy?” She asked worried yet are calm tone.
Once again, knowing what his wife was getting at, Flynn put down his mug and turned to his wife again, “dear, let's not jump to that conclusion just yet.” He said in his calming husband tone.
As he held her paws a give a handsome look on his face, “let's wait for a few days… and if he still acts weird and not talk to us about it, will call the doctor he went to last month to confirm it, okay?” Flynn said, looking with his handsome face into his wife's eyes.
Nelly relaxed looking at the face. She was still not convinced. But she knew her husband held some good points that she can't just jump to that conclusion just yet, so with that thought in her head she nodded in agreement.
Seeing that, Flynn gave a sly grin, his tail wagging as he held Nelly in his arms. The two's eyes then met. Nelly returned a sly grin as well, As she lowered her head, Flynn was planning to kiss Nelly. The two's closed their eyes and planned to kiss… when suddenly… an electric ringtone played. It was Nelly's phone. It pretty much interrupting the kiss.
“Sorry. That's my phone.” Nelly said to Flynn apologetic.
“They could have waited at least one more second.” Flynn said, looking mad.
Outside with Marshall, he arrived just in time to catch the bus, climbing aboard and looking around for a seat.
Marshall scanned up and down the aisle, soon finding, a seat next to, a short teenaged wolf who was deep puce furred with white markings around his muzzle and body and the front of his paws.
He also had a Christmas brown tail with a thick white line underneath. He also had some Christmas Brown on the back of his ears, and his head fur was antique brass and had a taupe mark on top.
Furthermore, he was sitting in front of mostly desert sand colored male lion who's tail tip and top main was deep bronze, and behind the wolf was a typical black and white colored make panda with a fur head of white head fur, and next to him was a white and black striped male skunk with black head fur.
They are all wearing the school uniform and chatting away to each other, but was no ordinary group of teenager furs these we're Marshall's friends, aiden (wolf), Owen (lion), dexton (panda) and Troy (skunk).
“Hay, guys, what's up?” Marshall said, greeting his friends as he sat down in the seat next to Aiden. “Marshall!” The boys excitedly said as they gave Marshall fist pumps and hugs from each of them.
The bus started off toward school again, and the usual noise and chatter settled in during the whole ride. Marshall and his friends discussed a specific topic, “you guys excited about the next two months?” Aiden asked.
The others were pretty excited about would be happening in the next two months,
Aiden got out his phone and showed them a picture of a poster which showed a logo of a microphone and the title that said talent show August 11th night 8:30 pm.
Also at the bottom set the prize which was about 5000 dollars for the win or wins of the show.
“To think in two mouths, we can each have a thousand dollars.” Said Aiden, unable to keep himself still from the excitement.
And what he said was true since there were five of them, which meant that they can evenly split the money between all five of them… if they win, of course.
“Hay, Marshall, how's the music for our song coming up?” Aiden asked, “the lyrics are coming out great.”
Hence, the nickname his father called him earlier Marshall was the one editing the music for them for their Talent which is a song and dance, musishall was Marshall and music together which kind of fitted his part in making this Talent as Marshall uses his laptop to edit the music for their song be performing.
Marshall wasn't the only one, through each of the boys had a part in making this Talent possible, as mentioned before, Aiden was responsible for writing the lyrics to their song and although those two each played apart, the remaining three being Owen dexton and Troy.
All worked together to think of the dance moves they'll be doing for the song, like a music video except there are no cameras recording you.
Marshall gazed into that smile Aiden was giving to him, waiting patiently for his reply about the music, “well it's still a work in progress, but I should have it done by the end of the month.” Said Marshall, smiling, blushing and rubbing the back of his head.
Aiden Gives a nice nod, understanding that the music will be done soon enough, with that said, Aidan went back to chatting with the others while Marshall just stared at Aiden with an affectionate smile.
Marshall was still a little confused about it, but he actually had started to gain feelings of affection for him. Marshall had never been attracted to someone in this way before, he was even more surprised that it's for another guy.
During school Days, Marshall would often try to hint at it or ask him if he feels the same way for me, but so Far, he's too shy. Maybe later, during the Talent show, he'll ask him. Marshall begins to blush just thinking about it.
Of course, you would think Marshall would overcome his shyness and eventually date Aiden, well, unfortunately he was thinking of another someone who makes his love is a lot more complicated than that.
The bus suddenly stopped, but they weren't at school, yet they were just picking a few extra people up.
But this was no ordinary group climbing aboard, for you can tell just by looking at them, as they are daycare students.
They all had a colorful ribbon pinned to their uniforms with pacifiers attached. And said pacifiers were in their mouths.
The daycare group made their way to the back seats of the bus while they do all the other students just turn or face the window, not making eye with any of them.
Now, usually the daycare students weren't that bad. There was a bit of a social stigma with them, since a lot of the other students would tease them about being little better than babies. It was even worse for the nursery students. The poor kids found themselves often sitting alone, since not many other teenagers wanted to be teased and be guilty by association when sitting next to a 'baby'…. And this was part of the fear for Marshall. The daycare and nursery kids were all students who suffered from Miner's Syndrome.
When the daycare group take their seats in the back, the bus started off toward school again and the usual noise and chatter settled in once more.
As the bus was moving, Marshall and his group stared at the group of MSers sitting in the bag, noticing the boys staring.
Marshall and his friend group we're giving the MSers sorrowful looks on their faces, clearly showing that they felt sorry for them.
“Dang, I can't help but to feel bad for them.” Said Aiden sorrowful as you continued watching The Daycare Group. “Yeah us too.” Said dexton whilst the other is nodded in agreement with an “Uh huh,” “yeah,” and “I feel so sorry for them.”
“Yeah, to think they were just independent teenagers with many good lives ahead of them, but now look at them so long independence and back to square one.” Said Aiden prescribing his thoughts of MS is to his group.
While The Others agreed with him on that term, Owen briefly spoke up "technically… it's not really back to square one, MSers can still drive cars and get jobs as well they're just going to need a little help. "He said describing MS more detailed.
The others in the group turned to Owen, who continued to describe MS, “and things in their life need to be made child-friendly and safety for them.” He explained,
“for example, if we're still talking about the talent show whilst it's true MSers can still perform in it their performance need to be made child-friendly and safe so they don't get hurt.”
The others recoiled back from Owen clearly what he said had caught them off guard, and they weren't expecting that from him, “man I may feel sorry for them but makes me glad we don't have MS, right guys?” Said Aiden, gesturing to himself and the other with his thumb.
The others nodded in agreement with, “yeah,” “totally,” “very glad we don't have it.” Marshall stayed quiet and took his time to answer, eventually he nervously nodded without seeing anything.
Like his parents, Marshall hasn't told this friends ever, but he did know that his group felt sorry for the MSers, so he did think they would feel bad for him as well.
Today's went by, and the more Marshall thought about it, it gave him reason that he should probably tell them about his condition, heck he was even planning to tell them today.
But now with the added knowledge of what Owen had just mentioned, he was having second thoughts.
“Regardless it's more of a reason why I will be volunteering in the daycare class today” Said Aiden gesturing to himself with his thumb.
The other boys look at him with concern “you sure you want to do that?” dexton said unsure “yeah I'm not sounding mean or anything but do you think you can really handle the big littles?” Troy asked agreeing with dexton, “you know it can be hard especially for someone… your height” Owen added.
Marshall just stayed quiet, hoping his friends wouldn't want him to reply or add something to the statement, for those who don't know, Aiden is a special Kind of wolf because of the unique features about him.
One was that even though he was a wolf, which were supposed to be big and Tall, Aiden was only about as tall as his friend's shoulders can go.
Heck, if it wasn't even for the fact he was a teenager, some could mistake him for an 11 or 12-year-old. “Hay, it's not my fault I was born like this.” Aiden said, not liking being called small by his friends.
“Sorry. You're right, it's not your fault.” Owen itted. “Hmm. Regardless of my size, I'm pretty sure I can handle a few big Littles.” Aiden said pride.
“Says the wolf, who also a sissy boy.” Dexton whispered but was loud enough for Aiden to hear, “hey sissy is a strong word, I prefer the term girly!” Aiden said, making an angry face.
That's the second feature about him, although he won't it it, Aiden is a bit of a sissy boy. Another bit of him he was born Marshall and the others found out about it when they first came to his house and walked into his room while he was putting on a girly dress.
With a secret revealed, Aiden thought that the boys wouldn't want to hang out with him anymore and that they were going to tell everyone at school.
But they didn't instead they comforted him and asked him about it, although stool embarrassed about it. Aiden told them why he liked being a sissy.
And since that day,
the boys didn't really mind whether he liked wearing girly dresses or not, as long as it made him happy then they wouldn't mind not one bit, although they still tease him about it from time to time.
Well, this was going on, Marshall just continued to stay quiet, knowing a few things about what Owen had mentioned about MSers entering a talent show and Aiden willing to volunteer at the daycare class today.
If I slip up, I won't be allowed to perform with them. Not only that, whether I get sent to the daycare or nursery class, Eden will find out and probably make fun of me. Marshall thought to herself.
Marshall did it best to try to calm his thoughts. As scary as he for about it, he knew he had to keep this a secret to himself.
“Down, Marshall, you just have two months until the talent show. You just need not draw attention to yourself… until the show and hope you get lucky and win and everything will be fine, that shouldn't be too hard..... right?” Marshall thought not sure what the future could hold for him for the next 2 months.
End of chapter.
I do hope you like this first chapter of this story of mine. It's based off Tracey's Story by Panther Cub, it's about a fox deer needs Marshall who's been diagnosed with the same condition Tracey has.
But instead of his parents knowing, he doesn't tell them at all as he scared of what's to come with his busy parents if they find out,
read about him trying to balance his life and his urges to act like a little one as he tries his best to hide them away from everybody.

Just more of the interesting fictional premise of the condition, while also real world relatability of avoiding telling others cause of social stigma.

Okay what do you think of the characters?

Really at this point in time they are a touch basic since not much backstory. Only one we really have some feel for is Marshall, but could use some more attention as does the condition. Perhaps a flashback scene that will give more understanding of it and how its affected society to cause the social stigma. For a short story its good, but if wanting to make it a longer/bigger story then more time will need to be invested into understanding society, the friends, family, and the bullies around the focus of the condition.
