This one's just fun, but it's one I enjoy so much that it's actually framed on one of my walls. I see it every day.
This is a drawing Taral did of Lola Bunny. The thing about it that most speaks to me is its simplicity and directness. It's off-model and done unapologetically in Taral's own style and yet it is immediately recognizable as Lola, even in the unusual outfit. It's all captured in just a few dozen lines. That's all it took for him. He was simply that good at capturing the essence of the things he decided to depict on the page. I'm always going to ire and envy that about his work.
So, as usual of the time, I coloured this in Painter. I added the lunar details, the iron fence and bushes in the background, and the foggy midnight setting providing the context. I also decided to make the bottom her her skirt appear a bit translucent to suggest the shape of her upper calves backlit by the moonlight. I think if I did it today I would have make the lighting and shading on her much more subdued, less saturated, and a bit more mysterious and romantic. But I still like it for what it is.
