Furaffinity lost its Master Blaster, Head Honcho, Fear The Neer,
Dragoneer from a sudden illness with his lungs just days after surgical biopsy testing.
Having met Sean several times over the years personally at mainly FurFight, he was always a gentleman towards me. Yes, he had his detractors (Who doesn't?) over the years, but FA was his baby, his gameshow, not always 100% smoothly, and yes, serious coding issues that plagued the site over the years. Without Dragoneer, We as a fandom would have no flagship to display our art, writing and stories. Thousands of furry fans haunt this place daily.
ittedly I am now spooked at the future of the site, Who will take the reins and guild this wagon train of oddballs to the future? Or will it collapse under its own weight? It takes alot of money to keep this circus on the road , plus dedicated people to run it. Other art sites like Weasyl, Deviantart (They are seriously restrictive with adult art), SoFurry, Or worse, Inkbunny (Too many Zoos and Pedos), Or will something rise out of the ashes? Come on line (With better coding/reliability) and take command? I , like 98% of everybody else use this site exclusively to post their work. I'd hate to start needing to all the images I posted over the close to two decades.
But Thank you 'Neer, Thank you for allowing us into your circus (We're all the clowns!) and allowing us to share, display our talents. We're one big dysfunctional family, and you put up with much of our bullshit and anxiety. Many of us wouldn't exist or get the traffic this site gives us if it wasn't for you.
Ceiling and Visibility Unlimited you magnificent bastard!!

I'm a freak show.
Still ti sucks to go out the way he did and it is sad to see
soo sad to see...
RIP
Then there's the fact that his last tweet was about 4 hours prior to his death (the one about the cost of the followup visit being close to $1600)
There are rumors of it being lung cancer, then someone else I know said this:
"From what I understand, he died from a rare fungal infection known as Blastomycosis
Contracted from breathing in spores from breaching infected soil
I believe, if I read correctly, it can be rid of if detected and treated early on...but uh...yeah... :/"
Fuck Cancer.
I will miss that Digimon.
I had no idea I'm fifteen years OLDER than he?!
yikes...
I gots mah 'Olde Fart' Medal AND Certificate already!
And much 'Thanks!' to the AARP Organization for all their un-asked for/un-wanted mail fodder! Makes for GREAT firestarting during the Winter months!
Thank you for this tribute. Thank you.
I honestly had not figures on what will become of FA after his ing. Let us hope the site will continue to remain alive and going on for years to come. Certainly, I hope the community will be able too help keep the site in good conditions.
But time will tell.
Much love to his family & friends.
In fact, whenever I ed him about an issue, he seemed helpful and also willing to help. His responses weren't always fast, but I wouldn't have expected that either, but he always responded eventually. Sometimes the issue was resolved by then, but that doesn't matter, it felt like he would have resolved it, if it was still an issue.
I only had a few exchanges like those via PN or journal comments, but that's enough to give me the feeling that he was quite friendly, helpful and approachable for an of such a large community as ours.
I didn't know him well enough to say anything more than that, but for this alone he'll be missed.
Of course, FA wasn't always in calm waters, especially during the IMVU time, when people accused him of taking the donations to keep the site running and free and running away with it, while IMVU took over. I guess the NDA was to blame that made communication about the ownership (quite possibly) a nightmare and miffed quite a few people, even if Dragoneer bought the site back from them years later. Sadly this caused a mass-exodus of good artists to other platform, which were superiorly coded, but inferiorly active. I've made an on most of those sites, but all of them contain reposts of what was posted on FA before and nobody dared to like the stuff again, or leave comments again or the likes. And even with most reposts of people still active on FA, I noticed that most sites didn't really have as much that FA has. No furry art community I've seen so far is so active as FA's community. Even if FA can be a hostile and toxic place on occasion (which online space isn't, honestly?), FA still has the most active s and engagement I've seen anywhere.
As for FA's future... I wonder about that myself. FA certainly isn't the most modern place on the web, lacking many features s asked for for decades now, like name-change-features, or better blacklist features... Or the fact that the beta for the new FA UI is still a beta, for more than a decade now. I opted in using it, activating it in the options. But sometimes, when I access FA from a different place, or browser, outside of my and I see the old UI still, I'm surprised that the beta never rolled out to everyone by now. Still, we absolutely don't know how 'neer's ing will affect the site now. We live in uncertain times and FA does so as well.
In the end, all that's left to say from me is:
Thank you for giving us FurAffinity, Dragoneer. May the community you helped form remain for a long time to come. Thank you for being approachable, even to the most unimportant s like me. Even for that alone, you'll be missed.
Fly on, you glorious bastard! A visionary, taken from us far, far too soon.
3 years older than me!
Beautiful
Having this huge website would be overwhelming for any furry….
Be at Peace dear Dragoneer, and fly thru those clouds with your wings held wide.
Todachi, Yasha-Myr from FurryMuck
Crazy, he left a comment on one of my images a few months ago.
My first and only from him. And I was pretty excited.
And now this.
Life's a funny thing ain't it.
One day they're doing their thing, leaving comments, adding art, etc...the next, their gone.
It's shocking.
Well, may he & his family find peace. It's a tragic thing.
Wonderful tribute as always, Jim.
