sonicfxs for making this mini-ref of Marvis Florence, Flaris’ right-hand Blaziken that runs a bakery found in Nasurah City! If you're interested in getting one of these mini-refs, I highly recommend hitting up Mase here or on Twitter! But for the time being, lets get to know this chunky Blaziken, shall we?
Marvis hails from a land further away from Nasurah itself, a place where other ‘Mons trained and compete against one another to see who would be worthy of protecting their homeland. In short, one could say it's militaristic, but a young Marvis - although a strong and competent Blaziken - felt that this isn't his place in life. His mother was from some other part of the world, getting to know more of the land outside. But his curiosity peaked when a traveling Alcremie baker came into town to sell her goods, taking note of Marvis ist a small crowd and curiosity asked him several questions regarding life in this land. It was through their conversation that she popped an offer, but to let him stew over: To come back with her to a city called Nasurah and learn all about life that sounds more advanced than his. She gave him a day, but after sitting on it and discussing it with his father, Marvis would leave his homeland and go back to Nasurah with the Alcremie we now know as Flaris.
He was only 18 at the time, but over the years, Marvis took up learning through a small local college to get a grasp of the more advanced life she lives in, but he was a swift learner and managed to get a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. To Flaris’ shock and awe, she felt proud for once to have taken a gamble on someone like Marvis, seeing as he had a lot of potential. But what exactly did make him seem so cruel later on in life towards Amber? He looked at everything through the eyes of a businessman in the time he knew Flaris, wanting to ensure Flaris’ risk on him wasn't for nothing and to rise up in life through the baking industry with her. Yet, his hubris got the better of him once he noticed Amber's cart stand was beginning to make an impact on their business, collaborating with Flaris to get her out of business. And as we all know now, it backfired horribly, leaving Marvis alone to run the bakery and with a much heavier frame to boot.
In the time since Amber’s raid on their bakery, he’s reflected on his life - now 26 years old - and realized he’s made some mistakes. Some of those were related to leaving his old life, but he doesn't fully regret it. While it has been hard to run the bakery by himself, he managed to salvage what remained of Flaris in hopes she’ll regain consciousness someday. And sure enough, she did close to Christmas of 2021. He proposed an idea to her that sounded insane: To negotiate with Amber and see if they can have her work with them instead of being enemies. It's a lot to ask for, but sure enough, his plan somehow worked through persuading the two ladies. That and another force that is to be anonymous for now.
Since then, Marvis has gotten used to being a more heavyweight individual and slightly enjoying it, but does miss having looser clothing. He hasn't gone to get refitted due to funds and wanting to make what he has lasts as long as he can. He can be a thrifty fellow in spite of his looks, but is gradually letting himself be more open to others. Specifically with Flaris and Amber, wanting to actually know them better on a personal level. But his world is going to open up more than he expects as his life goes on. Especially with a rather odd development from Flaris after she fully recovered that he is still trying to make heads or tails of to this day.
