During the War against Malefor and the Dark Army, the Guardians fought for the safety of all Dragons. At the start of the war there were actually 6 Guardians representing the Dragon elements: Fire, Wind, Electric, Ice, Water, and Earth...The Guardians of Wind and Water fell early in the war, leaving only Ignitus, Terrador, Volteer, and Cyril. During this time while some Dragons left their eggs in the temple to be cared for and protected by the Guardians, many other Dragons fled to remote and hidden locations all across the world and established new Haven Cities to ride out this storm and survive, and with these Safe Havens there were eggs that survived the Dark Army's raid on the Temple. Now with the war over Dragons are returning to the capital city of Warfang, and just in time. The Remaining Guardians have had their days as heroes and are getting on in years, there needs to be a new generation of heroes and many young dragons have stepped up to the role.

Yup! I was talking about my story ideas with a friend and we decided even though they are not natural elements in The Legend of Spyro world, we decided it would be interesting if since Malefor created Dark Elements they not only now exist in this world but have begun to appear as elements Dragons can be born with and because of their dark associations these dragons have become outcasts. I imagine this would tie into Cynder's personal story, being able to relate to them being treated unfairly for reasons they beyond their control and dedicating herself to become The Shadow Guardian in order to represent and protect them, and she's not alone. There's already a Wind Guardian, and if Cynder is taking the title for Shadow then that just leaves Fear and Poison. Maybe the 3 of them squad up from time to time for their own missions.
Poison is the Dark Counterpart to Water. Water represents Life and Healing so Poison represents Death and Sickness
Vile (Or Vial?) was not originally a candidate to become a guardian of any sort (Nor did she want to be). No Poison Guardian has existed up to this point but Cynder picks Vile to her and become the first. Before meeting the New Guardians Vile was a punk anarchist kid who has a lack of faith in the Guardians and ancestors to protect dragons like her who were touched by Dark Power, so if nobody else is going to stick up for them then she guesses she has to do it herself. She actually had a lot of respect for Cynder as "The Terror of the Skies", she didn't care for Malefor or the Dark army recognizing that they are not good for anybody, but she Cynder on the other hand was exactly what she wanted to be like; a powerful dragoness who kicks the asses of all the Guardians, commands armies, and her very presence causes terror and panic!
Vile is Rude, Cynical, Sarcastic, and is very bad with words. She often defaults to shouting and swearing when she doesn't know what to say or just gets angry and starts breaking stuff. She has a lot of emotions but has never really been taught how to deal with them properly and is kinda starved for affection taking Dragons hating her as a substitute for love. She thinks asking for help is accepting weakness despite her coming to the need of other more vulnerable dragons constantly, she has a good heart

Her control of her powers are connected to her emotional stability and she tends to go overboard very fast
-Intelligence: 4/10
She was never given a proper education and is very emotionally stunted.

She has gotten herself into a lot of fights and loves fighting. She trains frequently.
-Potential to Grow: In order to grow she needs to work on controlling her outbursts and start accepting help from others.
