Curbside Classic #3: 1978 Ford F-250 Ranger Lariat

Here's another Curbside Classic from Crossfolf Corner.
I like old trucks as much as I like old cars, and this one is a beauty; a mildly customized and accessorized '78 Ford F-250 Lariat.
Some of you may notice that I shot this truck in the same spot where I caught the black '39 Ford Tudor Sedan that began the Curbside Classic series. They both belong to my friend Tim, who not only collects old cars and trucks, but drives them regularly. He also frequents the restaurant across the street from the Jell-O Tree, and that's where I saw this cool old truck today.
According to Tim, the Lariat was a fancy option package that Ford offered on their F-250 pickups. Nicer interior, a few more bells and whistles, some more chrome trim along the sides and some extra "Lariat" badging. It was a pickup for the well-off owner of a blue collar sort of business who didn't have to use it as a working truck, and/or wanted something a bit nicer to drive when the Lincoln or the Cadillac was in the shop for repair.
This one was also custom ordered in a shade of metallic green that was only officially offered on the Thunderbird and the Lincoln Continental Mark V. Someone specifically wanted a fancy, expensive Emerald Moondust Metallic paint job on their F-250. I'm guessing that this truck's original owner didn't intend to scratch and bang it up...
As a rule, I prefer plain, utilitarian trucks over flashy, dressed-up ones, but I certainly wouldn't kick this pretty emerald green truck out of my personal Dream Garage.

(My leetle Ford Ranger WISHES it could grow up to become this!)
That's why I was so surprised when she saw this truck for the first time. She nodded and said:
"Now there's a Ford I could get into. I like that one."
Mom's stamp of approval is good enough for me...
Yeah, I love that 'Debate' (Chevy vs Ford).
If the thing is rugged/reliable, that's always good enough for ME!
