Country Western music star , Toby Keith, ed away after a long bout with stomach cancer.
Not personally being a huge country western fan, I did know of his talents and songs. Songs like 'Beer for my horses', American Ride, White trash with money, Drinks after Work , Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue, American Soldier and Red Solo Cup.
Keith was also a proud American, ed the Military and troops, doing many USO shows for the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Saying "I don't apologize for being patriotic. If there is socially incorrect about being patriotic and ing your troops, then they can kiss my ass on that. Because I'm not going to budge on that at all. And that has nothing to do with politics. Politics is whats killing America."
His song, 'Don't let the old man in' was used in Clint Eastwood's movie 'The Mule'

Maybe Papa Hemingway is there too, and perhaps even Captain Tony, himself. :)
I have a soft spot for Country. It was part of the background of my childhood.
I got the chance to see him in a small music hall in Hollywood, small concert but a big voice. Big man and tall boots, wonderful music and heart. Give God a personal concert.
Not my cup of tea, but a good likeness and a fitting tribute all the same. Bravo, Tom!
I wish you didn't have to do these every few weeks (or sometimes, days) but until good people stop dying, you're the best.
I'm guessing that he was a of smokeless tobacco.
One huge disadvantage of living a long time, is see so many of those you grew up watching, listening, figureheads in both entertainment and real world, die before you.
I believe Toby was a very good man with a heart and soul made of gold.
Got to see mister Keith during one of his USO shows while deployed
he brought the house down when he played Courtesy of the Red, White & Blue.
I was still working as a LEO when "Beer for my horses" was released and was always partial to the message in the chorus
"That justice is the one thing you should always find
You gotta saddle up your boys
You gotta draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon
We'll raise up our glasses against evil forces
Singin' whiskey for my men, beer for my horses"
Rest in peace sir
I raise my glass to you

Starting to like him already. I wish I was as fortunate as him, to be born a son of liberty instead of an asian slave.
rest in peace
