"My mom? Julia Gnash- was the coolest mom you could ask for. Swinogoths name their firstborn son after the father and the daughter after the mother with diminutives of their own names. That's why I'm not Julia but Juliah. What don't look at me like that- to us your naming conventions are just as weird. Anyway, Mom. She was the best. Tougher than tough but also willing to give you shirt off her back. I was her only daughter after six sons. Around the time I turned seventeen was when she got sick. It started as migraines at first- really fucking bad migraines- like, drop everything and fall to the floor migraines. After consulting foreign doctors we learned Mom had brain cancer. It was fucking awful, I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. She tried treatment but the medicine was almost worst than the sickness. Then came the day Mom decided to stop being treated. She kept on a brave face for us and if she could be brave then we could too. Mom soldiered on for five whole years until she collapsed one day. Luckily we were all there when it happened. She died surrounded by her family, loved until the bitter end."
