Okay, here is the first real instance of branching Aria out into her own! This was a pencil sketch drawing from Rachel Bennett, who is the talented main artist of the Beyond the Western Deep webcomic. I got this as part of a "Sketch Card Commission" tier from the Beyond the Western Deep Volume 1 Kickstarter where she draws your character in the style and likeness of the creatures that inhabit the webcomic. It was hand drawn and colored onto an actual thin cardboard material, same size as a normal trading card. Believe me, it looks even more awesome in person when you see how small it is.
I tossed the initial references of Aria to her and she was more than willing to give it a shot. I think she did a really awesome job with her! :D
So meet Ahria Tenkoph! She hails from a race called the Krolkani, a species that is a mix of vulpine and primate, and they reside on a deeply forested planet known as Velkka. Her people are very agile and cautious, and can be quite vicious when provoked, especially to their extra strength in muscle fiber despite their perceived average size. However, they have adopted a more peaceful way of life compared to their more tribalistic past - A deeply philosophical teaching that aims to rid them of their warlike past. At least, as much as they can with their once-despised island neighbors, the Arkunai. Though not a technologically sophisticated race, they make up for it in skill and wisdom. Ahria, like her Garudan counterpart, is still a soldier, but she is far less emotionally scarred and has a more well-rounded and sober personality regarding conflict.
Also of note is that Ahria and her people are not medieval in scope and way of life, but the sketch does call for the character to be dressed in the style and costume to abide by Western Deep's setting. So I chose my favorite costume, the Ermehn cowl and skirt. :3 Even the weapon is an Ermehn crossbow. My gal just wont go anywhere without a long-range weapon. Xp
Though, interestingly enough, (and despite the fact that the Krolkani haven't developed off-world travel yet) I have been entertaining the idea of Ahria getting stuck and adapting on other planets. So her roaming around the Western Deep world as a one-of-a-kind otherworldly creature surviving any way she can, does sound like a very awesome idea! :)
