"You're the only thing holding me up, hands!" Alyson muttered to herself as she rubbed her pink eraser against the paper.
She redrew a few lines. Looked at the result. Looked at it again. Smiled and went to show her mom.
Having an art teacher for a mom, Alyson had been drawing for most of her life. But with all the other activities and arts she'd gotten involved with in college, her drawing skills had gotten rusty.
When she heard about an art challenge, Alyson figured it was a good way to shake the rust off. One picture a day for thirty days! Practice, practice, practice!
"Knew you could do it!" exclaimed Miss Stephanie March, art teacher.
"Knew I could do it!" Alyson echoed.
Alyson flipped through the sketchbook to show her mom.
Miss March laughed at a picture of one mouse nailing another with a water balloon.
When Alyson showed Sadie how she'd immortalized the day, Sadie had hid a smirk and only commented that the sketch didn't do her ass justice.
As Alyson continued to flip, Miss March raised an eyebrow but didn't comment. Alyson stopped flipping to check which picture it was and saw a panda guy being abducted by aliens.
"It's from a podcast I listen to..."
"I understand perfectly," Miss March said brightly. "Somewhere in the boxes of old art I have quite the saucy tribute to Captain Twerk and Commander Mock."
"You'll have to dig that out at some point," Alyson said, morbidly curious.
"I'd be far too embarrassed. It's quite saucy!"
Alyson resumed flipping through the sketchbook. When she ed a picture of an owl having trouble with a crab, she glanced to see her mom's reaction.
The mother sheep smiled but again didn't comment.
"And the picture I finished just minutes ago!"
Alyson flipped to the last picture and proudly pointed at it.
Miss March broke out laughing and started clapping.
It was a picture of Alyson showing a sketchbook to her mom who was proudly clapping.
"I guess this time, life imitates art!" Miss March said.

Day 30 of the 30 day art challenge.
Celebrate! Because I did it!
The early days don't look great but I stuck with it and I can say that I'm proud not only of just finishing but also with how many of the sketches turned out!
Dumping 30 scraps into my gallery also shot me past 500 submissions, which I'll be making a journal about next week. It would have been really neat if finishing the art challenge lined up with submission 500 but I have too much backlog to have not posted four commissions the past couple weeks.
My original thought for the Celebrate prompt was going to be the two sheep congratulating me on getting this far. But I thought it sounded too cheesy. So for most of the month, the plan was for Alyson to be celebrating her mom's recent birth or Mother's Day or something. And then I woke up this morning and thought 'what if Alyson was doing an art challenge and her mom was applauding her.'
And, why not?
Plus, it let me do one of my favorite silly tropes. People in the exact same pose as a picture of them in the same place.
