Lominus summary:
At the bottom of the mind-bogglingly deep Great Chasm rests the city of Dema. This city's purpose is to mine the magic crystals located in the labyrinthine cave system in the walls of the Chasm and send the raw magic directly above to the capital city of the Lominan Empire, Lominus. Dema is squarely under Lominus' thumb, and standards of living between the sister cities are quite literally miles apart. The average citizen of Lominus tends to live comfortably, while the average citizen of Dema is always on the edge of being broke. As the gap between the two rises, so too does Dema's resentment for Lominus.
Unable to work normal jobs, Ikara and Rimaris work as mercenaries for a branch of Dema's mafia named the Braxis Family. Because the Braxis Family operates within the corporate network of Lominus and Dema, they hire mercs like Ikara and Rimaris to carry out any street-level jobs, such as debt collecting, drug trafficking, sabotaging corporate/political rivals, and so on. But as Dema's crime rate increases year over year, the Lominan Empire will start to fight back...

Purlis Inc. sounds a lot like Amazon (I'm not sure which of the companies is worse to work for though).

Working conditions at Purlis, Inc. won't matter soon, as they're currently in the process of automating their entire delivery chain.
