The answer to this question may be found on other pages of the comic, but what exactly is the needing to be fixed portion of this whole thing. To me it seems that these are just identifiers for what a homelander is, and they are barely different from human in spite of that fact. Is this just something to make them appear or feel more normal? Or is there something deeper going on that I've missed.
