I mean, sure,
ChaseReynard asks this all the time but how was I to know there were reasons?
My thanks to
ChaseReynard for letting me give Chase a Betty Boop makeover; this was several fun challenges at once. Not just in shape, but also figuring just how black-and-white to make the figure. Once I settled on having the picture be done in greys, how to get correct greys?
This is how I learned ProCreate has a tool for adjusting hue, saturation, and brightness of a layer, and that turning the saturation way down does exactly what I want in suggesting the lush greyscale of the later Fleischer cartoons. This isn't completely black-and-white, of course (it's not your eye fooling you), but it's close and I thought that made a good look.
The important thing was getting Chase to look Fleischer-y, but somehow Austin came out a little more cartoony than usual and I don't think it's a bad look. He's looking extremely innocent for all this.

OP
Thanks! It is one I'm surprised hasn't been used more given the number of toons in the fandom.
