Some time ago,
MiguelofKing asked me to explain him how the spaceflight works in real life. After my failed attempt to create a instruction manual 😵 I rather decided to introduce him to Kerbal Space Program - which is a game that is as close to spaceflight simulator as it can be even with it's shortcomming like the series of bugs called "kraken" or that it uses only one-body problem, instead of n-body problem, in it's physics engine due to technical limitations.
I had him struggle a bit at first and let him try out aspects of the game on his own (I only explained him the flight controls) if he manages to figure something out. As I expected, his personal results were rather explosive - to be fair, that is pretty normal with KSP.
I builded a satelite with booster capable of reaching low Kerbin orbit for him and gave Miguel a more clear intructions about what he should do.
After he managed to get on somewhat stable orbit, I gave him another task: Get on low Kerbin orbit with crewed ship, deploy a small decoy and do series of manevuers around it, before returning back on the planet. I rather documented what he was supposed to do by screenshots from my gameplay with notes - and of course the designed the rather overbuild rocket for this whole mission.
Miguel struggled... struggled a lot. So I decided that we both should both Discord voice chat, where he first showed me how he flies so I can take notes about what he is doing wrong, then I showed him me performing the mission in real time, before he has to attempt to do the mission for the second try - this time I was there as Miguel's ground control.
Despite the language barrier and the need to explain controls mid-flight, we managed to get the kerbal back home. :D And this pic is a celebration of success of that mission.
I plan to perform with him two Mün mission - one one-way with rover and then second one with crew - and then two interplanety ones with probes. Hopefully it will go well 😅

I adore aerospace and spaceflight, kerbal space program is one of my longtime favorites as well. So delightful to see art like this, makes me a happy birdy ^v^
And hey, could always have him install the N-body mod which results in Jool losing a moon or two due to the devs not fully looking into how to design their orbits for realism, heheh
Me too. KSP was something which showed me what is it like to fly though space. I'm glad that you like the drawing.
If I installed the N-body mod then we both probably go mad... @^@ But yeah the Vall gets yeeted out of the system and I think that Laythe sometimes collided with Tylo in the simulations. And of course they are other unrealisitc things like that Jool itself can't be green, Laythe having liquid ocean even with its distance from sun and that Kerbol would be mess with the provided date even as full scaled star. However, those are thing which I can forgive the KSP and its developers since the planetary system its in game which is supposed to be cool. :)
Lathe could be given tidal heating by Jool potentially (if it weren't already tidally locked as if I right it is)
I would love playing KSP with you and discussing these things ^v^ ❤️
The Laythe is tidally locked, yes, however the reson why it doesn't get the tidal heating by Jool is because it has zero excentricity of its orbit.
