One of my favorite anime of all time is Arashi No Yoru Ni or One Stormy Night (2005) because it's so damn cute! And while it's not a romantic tale, being a wonderful story of friendship, I couldn't help but envision Gabu and Mei as a cute furry couple. Perhaps in another universe.

They made such a lovely couple and well though it was mostly developed and stated as a deep intimate-close friendship between them there is clear underlying subtext on them that they love each other more than just friends but they don't need to label out the true update on their relationship to others or even to themselves as it doesn't matter much to say it or not and also it was a broad-audience specially children public so they couldn't underly proper same-gender love issues eventhough there is no sexual-physical attraction between them and all the romance is platonic and asexual, which was still lovely cute and good for them!
