Plus, there's the fact that the only spiral Shellder to have appeared outside of beta content are the ones on the Slowpoke evolutions. So if the spiral Shellder aren't just rarer variants of normal scallop Shellder, then the Slowpoke is changing the Shellder, too! what's going on?
For the biology reasons stuff happens, its said that some sort of sappy substance the Slowpoke generate attracts water Pokemon like Shellder, so maybe that has something to do with it? Though when it comes to the venom making Slowking smart, I have no idea. Maybe https://theworldofpokemon.com/ might have a better idea since they read like a science journal, idk.
I just ed this, but I think it was said that the bipedal part is from the shock of the bite, but since the shark Pokemon doesn't cause this change, I'm not certain about that. May just be a scientific hypothesis, like many things in the Pokedex.
