Chapter 2 of my yinglet story series. Our heroine has bravely decided to take her first public steps in her new body. Will it be a mistake, or will it be the start of a new life?
In this chapter, she suffers an attack, confronts the problem of her names (dead and chosen), faces something she's been dreading, and finally decides on her new name. Also has to do a lot of talking, and Google Docs really, really likes "helpfully correcting" Yingspeak, so hopefully I didn't miss any zhis time. (I don't know if I made a mistake last time or if it got corrected without my noticing, but it gave me an idea for an intro for the second chapter, so I'm running with it. ^_^ )
Also changing the name of the series to "Modern Major Yinglet", 'cause I like the sound of it.Based heavily on the comic Out of Placers, a work by
Valsalia and also available at Valsalia.com
Yinglet species is the creation of

Seriously, it's awesome stuff, go read it.

I feel the public would have more of an active panic reaction however, and animal control for sure would be involved if this is set in the USA.
Otherwise though really rather gripping. Great work.
Thank you for the kind words. ^_^
If it gives you any idea how hard it is to find a lot of the information I'd need to survive being at least part bassarisk, I recently found out from a children's book that ringtail musk smells like cat urine instead of the more acrid aroma skunks produce. It's really hard to find new information that isn't bundled in with other animals', let's put it that way.)
In some ways, the relative obscurity of yinglets can be a plus and a minus. On the plus side, she can choose what to explain. On the minus side, people who already know or people who look it up might start expecting the stereotypes to apply to her too. Still, she can point to Kass and Matriarch Vizlet as counter-examples. #NotAllYinglets?
It's wonderfully refreshing to see tf media from the perspective of someone who isn't hiding and your execution is pretty top-notch!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Unfortunately, I've been dealing with a seriously nasty flu that tore through our entire apartment here, so I've not been able to write more just yet. But hopefully soon. I really don't want to end up in a multi-month dry spell again. Thank you for the kind words. ^_^
Dr. Hart could use some lessons in tact. Then again, I can hardly blame him for being a bit out of his element with this patient... Still, really should've tried harder to be more tactful with the whole "veterinarian" drop. Even if he does make a good point about blind spots. ^_^
