It was a normal winter day in Virginia Bubo's math class full of factors and exponents and even some fractions. Her students were attentive, although many were staring at the teacher and not the board.
When suddenly outside the classroom, out in the hallway, there arose such a clatter.
The teacher paused and eventually decided "Leonard, you're next to the door, please see whats the matter?"
The possum student went to the door and gasped in surprise. "I think that's Santa Claus!"
"But it's the twelfth," Miss Bubo said in confusion. "And the middle of the day."
Leonard continued. "She's carrying a sack (of presents, probably!) and dressed in red from toe to hat (although there's some skin showing between). And she has breasts that shake when she walks, like a bowl full of jelly! And she's being attended by a right grumpy old elf!"
"Wait... she?" asked the math teacher.
Leonard backed away from the door and it soon opened, revealing a komodo dragon dressed in a Christmas corset teddy, Christmas thigh high leggings and a Santa hat. It wasn't Santa Claus at all, Leonard was just overly enthusiastic and didn't see the principal often enough to recognize her.
The Vice-Principal was with her, dressed as an elf and looking miserable.
"Ho ho ho," said Principal Kayda. "Merrrrrrrrrrrrry Christmas! Bonuses!"
She dropped the sack and pulled out a gift wrapped box.
"Oh!" said Miss Bubo. "Don't we usually do those closer to the holiday? And not in the middle of class?"
"Yes, usually," Kayda agreed. She handed the box to Virginia who nearly buckled under the unexpected weight.
"Goodness!" The owl teacher put the box on her desk. It made a loud thump. Curious, Virginia opened it up immediately. "Is it all... pennies?"
"Of course not. Pennies are the top layer. Heavier metals on the bottom," Kayda said.
"Oh." Miss Bubo didn't know what to say. Partially because she didn't know how much her bonus was and she didn't yet know whether she was honored or insulted by it.
"You earned it!" the komodo dragon said. She hoisted the sack onto her back. "I'm handing out the bonuses early because I'm going to be away from the school for the rest of the year. Someone has to save Christmas."
Virginia laughed but the principal kept a very serious expression.
"While I'm gone, just act as if its business as usual. Don't tell anyone where I've gone. Oh, and Evaline is in charge of the staff Christmas party. She insisted," said Kayda. She turned to go. "Come along, elf."
"Yes, ma'am," said the lemur Vice-Principal/Elf.
"Our principal has such a weird sense of humor," said Virginia, after Santa Kayda and her elf left. "Uh, but back to the lesson. Any questions so far?"
She saw that Leonard had his hand raised so called on him.
"Santa is our principal?" the possum asked.
