From one spirit of Halloween to another. Honestly, I view Sam and Jack on the exact same plain so whoever bested who came purely down to a matter of preference and I'm not sure if you know this but I really like the Nightmare Before Christmas!
The last time I drew Jack for this, I focused completely on him as a character. The sides to his persona as the king of Halloween and made something that was both fun, yet intimidating. This time around I wanted something that captured the feel of the movie. That off-kilter whimsy and inexplicable wonder that I felt, the first time I saw it as a child. I didn't want too much Christmas influence-(obviously as this is a HALLOWEEN countdown)-but you can't have the Nightmare Before CHRISTMAS without said holiday. I used to be very much against "Sandy Claws" Jack, but in recent times I've come to realize you can't have one without the other and that was the air I wanted to capture in this piece.
So now that we've had not one, but two personifications of Halloween and my favorite film character of all time, who's to come next? How could I possibly follow something like this up, without going further? ed Halloween itself and into the things that truly terrify us as a species? Have ye the spirit to continue~?
