So these stargazers abduct people and turn them into one of them? Are they selective or just random? What is their goal/purpose and how does the transformation affect the person (other than physically)? I have many questions, is there an explainer submission I missed, or something like that?

Things are pretty vague for now, but the idea is that they do turn others into them because they see themselves as superior beings, and thus the "ascension" they offer is seen as a favor by them.
