The coming of Apollyon was hardly rare for worlds to experience.
Everything must come to an end, to make way for the new and to prevent the old from festering and mutating into something that was never meant to exist. Apollyon's role was to ensure that such things were stopped before they started, or removed before their cancerous nature grew out of control. She was the Destroyer, the Omega, the final ending of the dead and decaying worlds.
She was not, however, solely an unfeeling force of nature.
Apollyon (or 'Polly', as she preferred) was one who reveled in her role, and grateful for the goddess Absolution giving her a chance to do something she loved doing without worrying about bring harm to the living. She was also exceedingly glad that, though the nature of the multiverse meant she was never without something new to smash, she still had some free time to just enjoy herself. Not to mention, the opportunity she never would have had in her previous life: a chance to make friends. The day was average, as far as that word meant for a world under Absolution's supervision. There had been the odd outbreak of sudden macro growth, a break in physics that had sent things backward and forward through time, and someone had developed a recipe using actual stardust to make an edible topping for cakes. Nothing that was out of the ordinary as far as the residents were concerned, though one in particular looked up at the light that had suddenly appeared in the afternoon sky.
The light grew in size, and intensity, as the moments ticked on. For a brief moment, it actually appeared as though it were a large meteor that was going to crash into the planet; suddenly, the 'meteor' shifted position in the sky, its form becoming a bit more defined and an anthropomorphic shape emerging as the new position it was in actually slowed it quite a bit. Polly had never been fond of simply appearing places, though she theoretically could; it was simply a part of her nature that her entrances had to be big, flashy, and – above all else – destructive.
She landed hard on the planet's surface, the leg that had actually impacted the surface first being driven through the crust all the way up to her ankle. The planet visibly rippled and shook like a waterbed of massive proportions, and the various clouds in the sky were blasted away from the point of her impact. While the shock wave was still traveling, Polly pulled her foot free with a chuckle, shaking it to get the bits of lava off of it before setting it back down. Some of the air around her still shimmered and glowed with the heat of her orbital drop, but she wasn't overly concerned about that. She was effectively invulnerable, and blessed so that none of her actions could bring harm to others, directly or indirectly.
It didn't take long for her to spot the one she was looking for, the tiny, blue wolf excitedly waving his whole arm from a balcony in a city a few steps away (for her). Polly smiled brightly, lifting one of her paw-like hands to wave back. “Heya, Alef!” she called out, her voice echoing through the atmosphere, announcing to the whole planet why the destroyer had literally dropped in for a visit.
A good portion of that same planet chuckled to themselves, the blue wolf's day promising to be very interesting while Polly was here.An old-ish pic of Polly from
Alef-GP that I honestly forgot to back when I got it, so here we are. Complete with a snippet I wrote for the pic at the time.
