The moon's cold blue light was partially filtered by the trees. What light reached the clearing painted a stark scene; a field of grass, the ruins of some ancient temple.
It was here the fairy hid herself. Free from her obligations. Her overprotective kin. The claustrophobic cage that they put her in, ostensibly for her "protection". "The demons will get you!" they always warned. "You're too innocent!" And so, the clearing was her escape from that world.
She'd thought herself alone, until the portal opened before her. The figure that spilled forth was lithe. It oozed a confidence she hadn't seen in any being before. When it spoke, its voice was low and sensual, every word underlined with the snap and crackle of flame.
"Good evening, precious," the vixen of flame purred to her. "Welcome to my domain."
"H-how long have you been watching me?" asked the fairy vixen with a quiver to her tone.
"Ever since you came here my dear. I know you seek an escape..." purred the vixen of flame, flashing a wide grin. "I've come to offer you one."
The fairy hesitated. "But I..." she started... and then stopped. Why else would she come here, if not to escape that claustrophobic cage?
Sensing the fairy's hesitation, the vixen of flame leaned further out of her portal, her very figure seeming to defy the laws of physics. "I have something for you," she said... and she held out a golden apple, its radiance bringing a light and warmth to the clearing.
"What is this?" asked the fairy, mesmerized by the glow.
"An escape, precious. Take a bite. All your worries shall be washed away, and a new world will open up to you."
Again, the fairy hesitated. A blush blossomed upon her pale cheeks. Part of her clamored 'No, this is wrong'. Yet, the rest of her...
"W-will I be able to come back, if I wanted?" the fairy asked.
"Of course precious. The door opens in both directions." The vixen's devilish grin grew wider. "And I'll be there to guide you."
The fairy swallowed. But she held out her hands...
A lovely 'dark fantasy' themed piece done by the ever talented
firetally, featuring devil flame vixen Shizuka and fairy Kagami. I really enjoyed coming up with the theme, and Tally did an extraordinary job bringing it to life. <3
