ANU-Ra then saw death: a vision of the end. So it was that Anubis was created: he was the lord of death, the judge of souls in the afterlife, the guardian and spirit of the dead. When ANU-Ra shared his vision with him, Anubis saw death, judgement and a great hall upon which he was seated in judgment. His halls are where the dead go to wait for judgement. To him do people praise for their ancestors' wellbeing in the afterlife. To him do all mortals go to judgement. He embalms all those noble. He is the lord of the Western lands and skies: there beyond the western gate is his dominion. He is beloved of Bastet.
