There was some lamb on sale at the store so I couldn't resist, I had enough to do a test recipe from someone else, then this one which was my own based on my experience from the other recipe.
Makes 4 Burgers
Ingredients:
1 lb Ground Lamb
1 tbs Soy Sauce
3 Cloves Minced Garlic
1 tbs dried mint (not whole leaves, shredded)
1 tsp Pepper
1 tsp salt (if you want more salt than what the soy sauce provides)
2 tbs Goat Cheese
4 Onion Sandwich Rolls
5 oz Fresh Basil
Tzatziki Sauce
Directions:
1- Mix ground lamb with soy sauce, garlic, mint, pepper, and salt
2- Heat large skillet on medium high heat. Form 4 round patties with the meat and cook on skillet for 4 minutes on each side.
3- While meat is finishing cooking, put goat cheese in the microwave for 30 seconds and stir to soften it up and make it easy to serve.
4- Place patties on bottom of rolls, top with a spoon full of goat cheese, then top with basil leaves either whole or shredded. Spoon tzatziki sauce on top buns then top the burgers. Enjoy!
Thoughts: I love lamb whenever I can get hold of it, I know some people don't like the musky taste but I love it, especially paired with the sour and also musky goat cheese, while the basil adds a refreshing coolness along with the cucumbers in the tzatziki sauce. The soy sauce brings out a more unique umami flavor in the lamb that just salt doesn't do, it might be up to someone preference though as it is a fairly unique taste.
