The of the clay clan can manipulate clay at will. They live in dwellings along the riverside for their clay conveniences. This beastie is one of their clay construct guardians. Their job is to lay low around the perimeter of the village, looking like normal piles of clay or mud, until it senses an intruder and comes to life. The ball in the middle is made from a special crystal that channels and keeps it's makers powers so it can be animated. Break or take out the crystal, it will become a pile of clay again. Good luck getting to it though.
