While my coach SylviaTheSylveon was working on what would become the beautiful drawing of Chikorita -- https://www.furaffinity.net/view/46.....oad-successful -- I drew this piece of a fairly well-known Rock type from the bustling Unova region, being ガントル Gantle, or as we in Europe and the USA know him: Boldore! He certainly IS min(d)ing his own business down there in the deep underground caverns of Clay's mining operation. I made sure I put a lot of detail in the environment and background, since I really like to do that with most of my more complex pictures. I have used different ''hardnesses'' (is that a word?) to breathe life into the environment. Like adding different kinds of lighting depending on how far away a certain object is in relation to the... ''camera'' of the picture, for lack of a better word. And the shadows coming from the Pokémon's legs because of the lights hanging from the ceiling of the mine shaft, even though you can't see them from the angle I drew the picture. The iron elevator in the distance is a nod to Clay's Gym puzzle in Black and White, where the player has to move their platform up and down in order to reach Clay's platform, which is stationary. I'm not certain if he uses a Boldore in any of his Gym fights, but if he does, then I think I just simply unconsciously made a link to that instance as well.
Let me know in the comments whether or not you've played a Unova game! I haven't, but I know BW/B2W2 are held in very high regards due to all the fan service and details the devs put into these specific titles in the Pokémon franchise!
