His sealed form is kind of like a shell. It forms around him when he's forced back into his smaller size, so even if it's smashed or sliced up or cracks wide open when he releases himself it always ends up wrapped around his body again. He's essentially piloting the vessel he was forced into and making it look like himself after the seal was weakened, but it was never removed.
