Long ago I took Zoology which was one of the coolest classes I took with the best professor I ever had. As much as people enjoy the zoo, most wildlife in captivity has a hard time living there despite the best efforts made to keep them as naturally comfortable as possible.
They may pace the perimeter, chew on their tail or like this mountain lion, play around with a food dish. This may seem funny or cute but I was taught it was considered "stereotypical behavior." It was a zoology term for odd behavior any animal does that it would normally not do in the wild. Usually this is only seen from long term captivity. It's actually painfully bored and all zoo animals typically display this.
