Seraphim - The Great Magic Serpents

You were close, you could feel it. That unsettling aura of something unnatural hung in the air as you peered into the gloomy cave before you. All your life you heard of the dark creature lurking within these mountains. You’d never seen it for yourself, but you knew it was there. You took in a nervous gulp and lit your torch, stepping into the darkness to face the beast you came to meet.



It didn’t take long to notice the sound of slithering scales against the ground. Then, all at once, several torches lit up around the room, filling the cave in a warm glow. And right before you rested the colossal black serpent, raising its head high above yours and glaring down at you with two sets of glowing eyes. You trembled where you stood, almost dropping the torch in your paws. Even just looking at him gave you the impression of something unnatural, something otherworldly, practically vibrating with magical power.



“Do not be frightened, mortal,” the serpent said in a booming voice. “I don’t bite, I promise.”



You had to focus to control your breathing, reminding yourself that they always looked scarier than they actually were.



The serpent coiled up before you and rested his head on the floor, looking curiously in your direction as you sat down before him. “It’s been ages since I’ve had a visitor. Speak when you wish.”





Okay, I have to it, this creature design turned out awesome!

Earlier this month I commissioned  SovaQ to make a creature design for me, and this is the result! This creature is the Seraph, a creature from the world my book is set in. They're serpentine creatures from another world and are the source of all magic. While they might be intimidating in appearance, they tend to be quite friendly, and those that aren't just want to be left alone. They can make really good company if you are nice to them!
