PerversePen Love you, dude!
Secret had always liked the snow. But because he had grown up in an area where your only option was to gawk at its appearance in films and television, it managed to maintain a magical, almost dream-like, quality. Meeting Cyril was also his first experience with snow. As he got off the airplane, he couldn’t help but snap several pictures at the marvelous sight. He enjoyed the way it crunched under his hooves. And when his nose twitched, it reminded him of the rain back home. It was funny how similar the things smelled. Even though all these images were pleasant, he couldn’t help feeling uneasy as he walked down the sidewalk with his friend.
Every time he turned to look at Cyril, Secret noticed that he had his arms behind his back and this weird smile on his face. When Secret tried to peer behind him, Cyril shifted his body so his hands remained out of sight.
“So…” Secret began, watching how his breath formed in front of him, “you gonna tell me what you’re hiding behind your back?”
A knowing grin that the rabbit tried, and failed, to hide spread across his face. "Oh, you'll find out soon. It's a surprise!" He teased in a fashion that was so blatant it was hard to tell if he was playing coy or genuinely believed he was being sneaky.
Upon hearing this response, Secret squinted his eyes, finally starting to piece together what this “surprise” could be. He quickly scouted his surroundings, trying to find any sort of protection he could. He had never been in a snowball fight before, but he was damn well determined to pelt Cyril in the face.
Ahead of him on his right was a large mound of snow: the perfect stash of ammo. The goat tried not to let his friend notice how he began to slow down his gait. He’d have to act naturally to catch him off guard so stopping in the middle of a brisk walk would raise too much suspicion. He let Cyril walk a few steps ahead of him before quietly bending down and stuffing his glove in the snow.
A cold, muffled thud echoed as a snowball pelted the back of Secret’s head, shattering against one of his horns and sending a powdery white mist sprinkling over the boy’s coat. “Got ya!” the rabbit laughed, still lurched forward from the baseball pitch that he’d sent his friend’s way. Although now the excitable rabbit was already glancing around and scurrying toward the rows of nearby trees for cover, sure there’d be a retaliation for his attack.
