News of the Kansas Senator, Bob Dole, ed away from the effects of Stage 4 lung Cancer at the age of 98. Bob Dole first ran for Kansas house of representatives in 1950, then later to the Unites States House of Representatives. Then served in the US Senate in 1968 til 1996. Dole was also known for his humor and willing to work across the aisle.
Dole was also the last WW2 vet to run for office and President in 96, losing to Clinton (mainly thanks to a robust economy at the time) and also behind the move to get a National World War 2 monument in DC, which finally became reality.
During WW2, Dole was with the 10th Mountain Division and in April of 45, was seriously wounded by a German shell that struck his upper back and right arm. Leaving his right arm paralyzed with limited mobility, He'd keep a pen in his right hand to minimize the public effect. He was medically discharged as a Captain in 1947 with 2 purple hearts and a Bronze Star with a V Device for valor.
I actually voted for Bob in 1996 cause I didn't want Clinton back in office (And I was a Democrat at the time.). Politicians like Dole are a rapidly vanishing breed. After the 96 elections he pursued in writing and public speaking and numerous TV appearances and even in numerous commercials like Visa, Dunkin' Donuts and Pepsi. Bob kept busy. Plus was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Bill Clinton.

(I was going to start out by joking that he died years ago in that Halloween episode of The Simpsons).
"Having a hard time with male potency? Well I don't, and I'm Bob Dole. What's wrong with you? Christ, I'm Bob Dole and I can get it up."
98 is nothing to sneeze at. He was a fighter, thats for sure
But I would ask what do you love about him and what do you hate? Or is it a love to hate him?
Jeez.
Farewell Mr Dole
Fine tribute, Jim.
