Under the pale moonlight of Halloween, Alex carefully moved. Tonight was a night of frights, and
it seemed like Alex had found someone to remind. Her target: a mammoth who was peacefully
gazing at the night sky, sitting on a log bench. Under any other circumstance Alex would never
want to frighten Marianne, she was a good friend and was very kind to her. But it was
Halloween, and that meant everyone was a target.
Plus, the pachyderm was dressed as Red Riding Hood, honestly the poor girl was just asking
for it.
Alex even dressed for the occasion, well, more so changed herself rather than a simple outfit
swap. While most people would put on a fuzzy costume and a mask and call themselves a
werewolf, Alex decided to go the extra mile. When you have the kind of magic Alex does, a
simple lycanthrope spell is child's play. The moon tonight just so happened to be a full moon, all
the more reason for Alex to be a frightful figure for the night.
All of which led to right here and now: Alex was stalking her prey, keeping as low to the ground
as her figure allowed her to. Her new wolf nose gave her some more info on Marianne: the
scent of the conditioner she used on her fur, what kind of flowers she had adorned on her hair,
even smelling some treats that were out of her sight. All in all she seemed poised, calm, and
relaxed.
At least for now anyway.
Step by careful step, Alex moved, powerful muscles making naught a sound as the furred fright
drew ever closer to her unaware victim. Finally, when she was close enough, Alex stood on two
feet, raised her arms in a frightful pose, and was just about to inhale to let out a bloodcurdling
roar when-
“Hello there Alex.”
The werewolf raised an eyebrow, her drawn in breath now coming out a sad whine.
“You heard me?!"
Marianne turned her head to give Alex a warm smile along with a playful wink. “You were pretty
sneaky Alex, although us mammoths tend to have pretty good ears.” The elephant’s ears
wiggled as she spoke. “Plus when you have an older brother that loved nothing more than to
scare you when you were little, you begin to pick up on when someone’s sneaking up on you.”
“I knew I should have used the silence spell…” Alex mumbled to herself, wolf ears laid flat
against her skull.
Marianne simply chuckled. “So I take it you’ve been giving out more tricks than treats tonight?”
“Just giving a good scare to some people that’s all. Wandering trick or treaters, people who egg
houses, perhaps a certain bird. I think he was frightened the most, I’ve never seen color drain
from someone without magic before.” The werewolf said with a grin, however it faded soon as
she saw Marianne give her a raised brow.
“It was all in good fun! I filled their buckets with candy after I gave em a good scare. And[I] I made
sure Heksile still had a pulse before coming here. Speaking of candy, do I smell some near
you?” Alex asked, her tail wagging excitedly.
Marianne drops her brow, giving Alex her signature welcoming smile. “That depends, are you
gonna be giving out any more tricks tonight? This candy is for good werewolves only.”
Alex does her best puppy eyes. “I can be good!”
The mammoth pats her lap. ”Well then get cozy Alex, I’d love to share some treats with you.
Alex wasted no time hopping onto Marianne’s lap. The mammoth was one of the few that were
taller than her in her natural form, plus, she was just darn cozy no matter where you cuddled
her. Sighing happily, Alex put her arms behind her head as Marianne began to feed her a
chocolate from a picnic basket nearby.
“So I’m out here scaring some people outside, though what are you doing here Marianne?
Shouldn’t you be at a party or with some friends?”
The mammoth lightly sighs, using her free hand to gently rub Alex’s middle, earning a purr from
the werewolf. “I’d love to, though usually that always ends up with me either breaking something
in the room or just breaking the room entirely. You know, cause of…” Marianne finishes,
motioning at herself. “Still, I like to celebrate Halloween. This was one of the few costumes I
could find in my size, and I wouldn’t really miss it if I tore through it. Plus the forest is nice at this
time of night.
“You know I could help you with your growing problem right?” Alex and the mammoth
have had this conversation plenty of times before. Enough that she knew how the mammoth
would respond.
“I do appreciate that, but first I want to find out what did this to me in the first place. For all we
know if you use your magic you could end up hurting yourself. So until then, it’s a polite no.”
Alex scoffed, “Pff, like anything could [I]actually hurt me...but I do get your point. Just know my
offer is always available”
“Of course Alex, it’s good to have a friend like you, especially tonight of all nights. I've heard that
if you’re alone people will try and scare you!”
Alex chuckles, “Well good thing you have me to protect you, all I ask for is some candy for my
services.”
“Sounds fair to me,” Marianne accepted, giving another candy to Alex while she scratched the
werewolf’s belly. Apparently she hit a good spot, as Alex’s leg began to kick in the air for a
moment. Alex looks at Marianne with a slight blush on her face.
“Heh, I guess that comes with being a werewolf…”
