Baba Yaga is a very popular Slavic notably Russian tale figure as well as very ambivalent. Sometimes a witch, sometimes mistress of the forest, sometimes mistress of cosmos, often old and ugly, sometimes young, sometimes with a lot of children, sometimes just one or none, often evil and canibalistic, sometimes trial giver... but as a general rule in most cases : she is an old, ugly bone-legged iron-teethed witch who lives in an isba (Slavic shed) in constant motion set up on chicken legs, who moves around in a magical flying mortae which she guides with a pestle, and who eats children
