Lancaster seeking the familiar, sleeps in the shelter of what little he finds.
This character comes out of an idea from college paleobiology class of a character who was, through no fault of his own, the very last of his kind. Barring widespread natural disasters like disease or an impactor from space, the decline could be slow and there would certainly be a time where there was just one left. Lancaster was the last Smilodon aka saber-toothed tiger. A vertically challenged young adult, a runt, he goes looking for more of his kind and becomes a celebrity along the way since his diminutive size and short teeth (owing to inbreeding near the end of their line) make him the least dangerous individual from the species that used to hunt only large game, the reduction of which led to their demise. This was due to several factors, mostly unknown but surely due in part to mass migrations off the continent via the Bering Land Bridge in the last ice age. Look up how the horse evolved in North America then left via this route, every one, only to be brought back with the conquistadors.

Or will he be revived from a fossil?
