TwitterMelee's low self-esteem and crossdressing habits weighed heavily on him during his younger years; it left him feeling like a disgrace to society and he was constantly beating himself up for it. He got less mopey about this as he matured, but prior to meeting Sharon, the fact that this whole adventure of his never would've happened had he just shown some restraint and stopped wearing his old housemate's skirts weighed quite heavily on him... he was forced to flee his hometown, give up his cushy life working under a noble family, and found himself constantly seeking refuge all across his old kingdom, only to to be forced to move on for one reason or another. It leaves one feeling like they just don't belong anywhere...
Sharon knew what it was like to feel like you don't quite belong; the villagers in her hometown always saw her as an oddball and often avoided the young reptile for her eagerness to tend to the local animals and wander out into the surrounding wilderness just for the sake of taking in the scenery. But she never let that get her down! No, she enjoys what she does and refuses to let anyone ruin that for her! And while she never wholly grasps just what exactly Melee's been through before they met each other, she knows that Melee's not alone anymore and is quick to remind him of that. She accepts Melee for who he is and is glad to have him around! And Sharon hopes she can convince her friend that there is indeed some light in his life despite what he might think, and hopefully one day maybe even get him to really enjoy his dressing habits for once without worry.
Melee's her friend, after all, and Sharon cares about her friend very much. And I think deep down, Melee knows that and is happy to have someone like her in his life.
...Unlike the previous drawings I've commissioned from this guy, this one was intended to be a simplified "chibi" take on his usual art style, thus the anatomy and proportions are a bit different. As this drawing was commissioned a year later, his prices went up a little and wasn't open for business as frequently as he used to be, but I really wanted to have draw my characters together and I was going to make sure I got that! I really love this one and I think it best sums up Melee and Sharon's friendship during their early years, before Melee donned his squire garb and before Sharon's life took an unfortunate nosedive.
I really love commissioning this guy. He's not available very much these days, but I would love to get him to do more drawings of my characters eventually.Artwork by
