I'm frustrated, because only half the artists I do a great job - those go in my 'drawn for me' gallery.
The feral head shape and thick neck into barely visible shoulders is an important aspect of the character model, and it's basically a triangle, ellipse, and wedge: not hard! (And here's an amazing video: https://youtu.be/tdqjOtiRDyc great for pose reference images. And this one too https://youtu.be/8DWJo7nsTjA for less wiggling.)
If you're here for reference for a raffle prize or gift, then obviously that's generous of you and please take of the basic structure and proportions at the top left. If you're not confident, it's no problem for me to sketch pencils from a basic pose.
If it's not working, simply ask up front - I'll be happy to make suggestions or redline if it would help. (Heck, if be happy to redline even if it's not my commission - I have an eye for badgers.)
If you're here because I'm commissioning or trading, please share either:
1. a badger you've already drawn, or
2. a very rough circles and lines headshot - with stripes - like the top left images above
... before you launch into anything more detailed. Especially if you don't do WIPs - this isn't a WIP, it's making sure you're not one of the bad 50%.
The other sort of artists put me off commissioning entirely: offering WIPs (or worse, springing nearly finished pieces) with such obvious and explicitly covered model errors, that it's like I ordered a banana split, but they made it from a hot dog and margarine. I don't know why I find it hard to call their bluff on it; I guess I'm still holding artists on a pedestal - coveting their skill like they're doing me a favour, instead of accepting my money to competently and honestly provide a service.
Maybe my response should simply be that this or that aspect is 'not on model' and let them go back to look at the reference themselves, instead of putting myself in the role of suppliant - eagerly proffering descriptions in words or redlines: If they really can't see it from the reference... isn't working from reference, or asking for clarification about it, rather fundamental to their accepting commissions?
If you're reading this, you're probably not that sort of artist, so this is more about me venting, I suppose.
Obviously a MLP interpretation of a badger will be weird, and some things like eye size are going to be tweaked for cartoons or anthropomorphism, but the overall feel has to be of a mostly feral badger, not some weird ugly border collie.
